Hey all. I know this might be random to some but anyone with ringing ears would know what Im talking about. Im going to do my needle bearing replacement for busing to clear up that vibration.
But does anyone here think a Tacoma has less vibration than a car, unibody?
Somehow driving is setting off my Tinnitus and I wonder if its coming from my Tacoma. I know they have vibration but I thought it was just that needle bearing.

I don't think anyone has ever thought that, ever.

Aside from needle bearing, wind noise, tire hum, lower arm whistle, there are endless reasons why a truck generates annoying high pitched frequencies compared to a car.

Soundproofing mats help, but it will always be a truck.

I have Tinnitus, but never thought about my truck aggravating it. Mine is constant and I have just learned to live with it. Mine sounds like a forest full of cicadas most of the time.

Idk about the tinitus thing but mine definitely has less road noise than many cars and compact SUVs I've driven.

I have had it long before the Tacoma. Gradually getting worse as I get older. I don’t think it is worse in the Tacoma.

Compared to the other vehicles currently in the driveway (2014 F150 and 2020 Explorer) the Tacoma is by far the loudest in the cab. I get much more road noise and I need to crank up the volume on the radio hear it a lot more than the others. For short drives it isn't too bad, but for long road trips the extra noise takes a toll.

Last summer I put Dynomat everywhere and got the truck down to 70db doing 70 in the highway (50 round town) but before that it was a tin can. A BMW will do that at 65db. So neither of those should hurt your hearing. Its the vibration, maybe transferring to the steering wheel, arm then ear?

Iv also heard with a car the engine is connected to the unibody which transfers vibration to the cabin. With a truck the engine is connected to the frame and the cabin is connected to the frame with rubber bushings. Also you dont want low profile tires but small rims (16") and big tires /75/ Im just trying to find excuses not to sell it. I'm sorry you guys have this and for some its getting worse. Its actually low frequency like 20Hz max cars produce, high frequency shouldn't travel that far. Oh I dont want to buy a lexsus.

Mine comes and goes. Never more than 20 seconds per episode. Maybe once a week.

I have not noticed any corilation with the driving of the truck.

    It's just random AF.

My truck aggravates my tinnitus…….when my stereo is cranked. Seriously, I’ve had tinnitus since I was a kid, I don’t think it’s changed much, and driving doesn’t do anything to it, around town or road-trip.

Mine too! Sometimes it drops back to just ringing but most of the time now, it sounds like the cicada thing. I wear earplugs for anything noisy now and when I shoot, I double up with ear plugs and muffs.
I think mine's a combination of too much shooting without hearing protection as a kid and I think some of it's hereditary. My dad is damn near deaf but he spent his life running heavy equipment.
I don't think my truck has ever aggravated it.

I was thinking of getting a Ford. Oh changed to redline diff, transfer case, transmission, front diff to get it to shift "ok".
People talking, dishes clanking, forks, hurt my ears. So for me I might be a bit different. Cicada, oh man, and to not hear your truck, feel your you guys. I even put dynomat everywhere. Im thinking its the wobbling left axle from needle bearing transmitting through steering wheel to arm then neck and ear. Yes I know that sounds crazy but the resonant frequency of the human ear and truck can approach the same 1-2Hz frequency. Checked out link thanks, more sad stories. Im just trying to figure whats going on. I spent the whole year fixing it up but mighthave to sell it.

Yup changed all drivetrain fluids, redline. Installed Dynomat also. Checked out link, thanks but its only about tinnitus and Im trying to see if theres a correlation with the truck. Steering wheel shake from needle bearing to arm then head, ears?
Feel for you guys man that sucks to hear that. Oh I feel like getting a Ford or some boat but I spent a year fixing up my truck I so dont want to sell it. Mine is so sensitive people talking, dishes all hurt my ears. I wear my shooting muffs too and it doesnt help.
1-2Hz is the resonant frequency for ear and also the same (depending on speed) as cars interior that hits the human.
