Tinny Rattle when in neutral and upon take off V6 6 speed manual 4x4

Ive had this issue intermittently since ive had the truck since new, but now its almost constant, if I rev alittle while sitting still, or during takeoff I get an annoying tinny kind of rattle, it sounds like an exhaust rattle but im not sure if it is or not, or if exhaust rattles are a common thing with these trucks. And if it helps with anything, on the way home I kinda got on it pretty good in order to get in front of another driver so that I did not miss my exit, so I wonder if this sudden acceleration had attributed to this rattle, truck only has 21k miles on it, thanks for your time and input

 

Could be something with the exhaust. I had a rattle/buzz that turned out to be the housing on the driver side catalytic converter. It was a little loose on one side and made a thin metal on metal rattle that was most pronounced at 2000 rpms. I just put a hose clamp around it and that stopped the rattle.

 

I really wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, ill try a big hose clamp, see what happens, it wouldn't surprise me because it definitely sounds like its coming from the front and not the rear of the vehicle

 

Doesn't make any difference if the clutch is depressed or not lol

 

Plot twist, I just went to go mail a letter and the rattle is not there, back to how the truck usually is, ill take it that I most likely pissed off a cat heat shield with the sudden extreme heat of the random acceleration from before, being that I don't really get on my truck too often... who knows, life is certainly weird.

Had a small rock that was rattling around the same housing Kyle was talking about. Shit drove me crazy.

 

had this going on with an old ford ranger i had. it was the cat converter as described above..

 

Check for loose heat shields on the exhaust system.

 

I'm having a very similar problem most pronounced around 1700 rpms, loudest on acceleration but can still hear it as it comes back down. Now I was surprised that it not noticeable if I run the rpms up in neutral. But will make the noise in 1st with the parking break on, sitting still.

I'm not seeing anything that looks super lose. Do you have a picture of your fix?
