Sorry, I searched but didn't find these lights, found a few threads about the LED Ebay tails.

Anybody have any experience with these tail lights?

And if not do you have any experience with having a shop spray and clearcoat your tail lights? Have they faded or chipped. I don't really want to go the vinyl route and am not that interested in the 09 LEDs either. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I had mine done at a body shop. No problems with fading or chipping. I think I had them done 2 years ago IIRC. The shop I got them done at also warrantied them for 1 year against chipping/fading but I never had an issue. They do such a light coat I don't think they would even chip. Mine aren't that dark, just enough to get rid of the pink color.

Okay thanks. I'm gonna sleep on it tonight and probably go ahead and make the purchase tomorrow if I don't see any horror stories about these. Love your truck btw!

I had the same thing done on my eBay LED tail lights and just did the same thing to my new '09 OEM tail lights. Just take your stockers to a paint shop and ask them for a quote. You shouldn't be paying more than $100. It is the best way to tint your tails.

I would consider that but want to have the OEM ones in case I eventually sell the truck or have problems with the cops which I don't think I will.

Thanks! I would go for it!

I paid $100 for both tail lights and the 3rd brake light.

Too Bad you aren't in AZ. My friend paints cars and he did mine for $50 and thats what he charges everyone. He used House of Color Black paint and 4 coats of clear. I was there when he did them and he said the key is slow good prep and then light coats of paint. Mine have 4 layers of black and 20 min dry time before the next coat. Then let them bake in the sun if you dont have a heat lamp. and make sure not to wash you truck for like 4 days to let them harden.

Yea, weather is nice for the most part. I usually go down to AZ for spring training every year and its hot in March. Summer is always well above 100 so I don't know how I would handle it.

    707tac05,

Hit me up bro, im in santa rosa and would help you tint your tails. Ive done another pair off my friends car but not with the Tacoma's yet but it is a pretty easy process. Maybe we get together and do some simple mods to our trucks. Hit me up if you like the idea. Iv'e got a few things ive been wanting to do to the truck too.
