No I never got ticketed, It was just too much black on my truck for me. My trucks already RED, so I liked the way the red taillights went with it. I didn't realize that I liked it stock until I had tinted my spares.

Penty of stories out there of folks with tinted taillights getting rear-ended, and then the accident was listed as their fault....

Really? I haven't come across any actual examples. It seems everyone says that it could happen, but my insurance company said that it was about the brake light function and whether light is emitted to alert other drivers, which VHT nightshades does fine.

Please let me know some examples, cuz it would be interesting to hear their stories

Some people like the idea of tinted tails and after they do it, the realize it just doesnt look as good as they thought it would. Hoping its not the same when I get my bestop tomorrow...

I don't have any specific personal examples, just things I've read on here and other forums.

I know that if I ever rear-ended someone with tinted taillights, I would sue the hell out of them.

It's a pretty easy argument to make that if you are purposely making your vehicle less visible, you are partially at fault.

I'm sure a lot of people have gotten fix-it tickets and need stock ones. Law enforcement out here has a tool that checks how many lumens the light puts out to make sure its legal. Mine are tinted but not blacked out like some peoples.

I have no idea what you're asking here, but if a lady convinced a court that her coffee cup should say "hot" on it, then someone can convince a court that it's your fault they hit you... Why give them the opportunity to do so? Because it looks cool?

    Exactly.

I've thought of doing the tinted tail lights, until I read all the threads on here about getting tickets and the like.... But yet I still did the HID conversion in stock housings...... :anonymous:

I think its stupid.... I had a friend spray paint his tails and headlights... Couldn't even see his lights at night.

There was a guy on here who insteaD of using a tint spray like niteshades, he just spray painted his taillights superwhite, and said something like "you can't see the light at all now but it looks badass"

Let me try to find the link.

    EDIT: found it

I wonder how many style points he got... There's a lot of high schoolers that get old F150s or chevys and spray paint their lights. I personally think it's freaking stupid and unsafe, plus it looks like shit... I've been seeing it less here though.. I guess mommy and daddy stopped paying for their traffic tickets.

    Nothing says "style" like spraypaint.

Maybe by "style points" he was talking about the ones on his license?
