Got bored yesterday afternoon so I headed over to pepboys and picked up some VHT Nightshade, some Krylon clear coat, and some 1000 grit sand paper.

Started by taking the light covers off and cleaning them with some denatured alcohol (any cleaning product works).

Meanwhile the 1000 grit sandpaper was soaking in some water. I then sanded down both covers till they looked faded and proceeded to clean them with the alcohol one more time.

Laid out some newspapers and set the covers down on them and did 2 coats of VHT nightshade on them waiting 20 minutes between each coat.

After that I did 4 coats of clear to give it that glossy appearance and for some protection waiting 15 mintues between each coat.

Didn't bother with sanding them down one more time and polishing/waxing them but I didn't need to because they look great. Here's the finished product.

I used this as a model too, mine didn't come out nearly as good. I guess I didn't sand them first so I suppose that's what went wrong. Mine also turned silver when I tried the clear, don't know wtf happened there so I sanded it off and tried again. Yours look great!

haha thanks idk what could have gone wrong with yours. not sanding it wouldn't have made it not shine it just helps hold the vht on the light better. and are you sure you got the clear coat and not silver :p

That's what I was beginning to wonder... It says clear and has a clear cap so I shot it on a coke box sitting in the basement and it was clear.

I also taped off the reverse lights to keep them nice and bright.

    Ryan,

Where did you buy the VHT Nightshade? I have been looking around for them, but it seems know one knows what I am talking about.
