    Damn!!!

And I was somewhat worried just doing this.... to get rid of glare of the hood (which was a huge hazard by the way).

    20200508_164440.jpg

5%, but it only blocks field of vision up to the hood line. The installers had me sit in the truck and raised the tint until I told them where the hood line was. Marked, measured, cut, and installed. It ended up just under the hood line in reality, but there are very few times that the glare comes from the very front of the hood, and in those cases.... sitting just slightly lower in the seat does the trick.

I am the only driver, so having it set up just for me is a non-issue.

I still get a distracting 'sun spot' occasionally, but not the glare that is completely painful & blinding. No longer do I have to balance a cell phone, wallet, shoe, or whatever on the dash & against the windshield to be able to see. No more moving that object with every turn in the road in order to match the glare spot.

    Is it legal? Doubtful.

Is it safer than stock? Most definitely.

Tinting the whole windshield though??? Sounds kind of asinine to me.

I knew immediately after reading this post that the following 5 or 6 pages would be a shit show. Maybe this is a troll thread, maybe not.

If you’re out there OP, I highly recommend taking that off immediately.

You will probably cause an accident, hurt someone and then have a high insurance premium for some time. In that order.

why give the cops a reason to pull you over? They have enough on their hands...If you get a ticket, you can only blame yourself now. You must have money and time to throw away.

I wonder if having that section of the hood covered in the same material used in wraps would work? Iikeba flat or matte black. Now I'm thinking about trying it bc it is a bad glare.

Probably. I considered that also, but started with this.

It is illegal… here, but I have been closely followed a number of times with no pull overs. I imagine if they really wanted a reason to pull you over, this would give them one. At least with this it is still just a tint, and not a total blackout. I can see if there is a large bird crap on the hood that needs washed off. :)

I think the vinyl will be overkill, and for $40 installed, this is a great option. There is a distraction at times, but not bad. Occasionally the eyes get pulled to the glare spot, but it is not bad at all (not bright), and not often.

I didn't say use the wrap on the windshield as "total blackout". I said on the contour part of the hood. You think a vinyl sticker on 3 inches of the hood is overkill? You're the only person I've ever seen that did a reverse BROW LOL.

Maybe we are misunderstanding each other. Yes, I think totally blocking visibility thru any part of the windshield is overkill, if the goal is only to reduce glare. I can still see movement at the edges, by the wheel wells,.... should there be a small child, or dog, or whatever moving about.

If you are talking about using vinyl on the hood itself, then no I don't think it is overkill. I strongly considered that as well. My driving habits and location would have required doing the entire hood to totally get rid of it, and I did not want to go that route.

I agree the WORST place for glare is that little scooped area at the base of the windshield, and maybe some sort of matt vinyl there would do it, if that is the ONLY spot you experience the glare. That just is not the case for me.

    Can confirm.

"5%" on the sides and rear, already can't see shit. Can't imagine doing the windshield too. Looking forward to getting it redone.

Don’t forget to tint the grille and tailpipe to 50%. There’s no way I’d drive a vehicle without sufficient grille and tailpipe tint. Dyed products should also be avoided unless you love the ‘90s.

Then expect your grille and exhaust tint to turn purple. But still, way better than not tinting them for sure.

That's illegal. There is a reason for it being illegal. One you are making it harder to see the driver. ( Does he have a weapon? ) You probably didn't think of this at the time you had it done but beware of the potential actions against you.
