I did about a month ago, so haven't got a chance to experience really hot days.

One interesting note, I stopped wearing polarized sunglasses since the scratch so badly. However in my glove box my backup pair is which I pulled out last week. Wasn't sure if I was tripping balls at all the colors or if every other car I saw had color changing paint.

Cost has nothing to do with darkness and everything to do with what tint you pick. There are many different levels.

    What is special about Llumar?

I ask because I got a nano ceramic tint on all my windows and I think its shit quality. The windshield tint got hit by a socket wrench when trying to remove my grab bars and it wasnt hard but it scratched it. I know I was being stupid but it really wasnt a hard hit. I think it was a 3M product. Wondering if next time I need to be more picky about my brand.

From a little research I kept coming up with Llumar being THE windshield tint to go with. I didn't want a "lifetime warranty" from some random asshole tint installer. I wanted a lifetime warranty from a company that installs a product whether it be a window tint or ______ that does not need to fulfill a warranty repair because they installed it competently and professionally and will not need to ever touch my vehicle EVER again. I was aware that the guy that installed my tint was competent his online reviews were off the chart positive and when I showed up with my $40k Tacoma it was the least expensive vehicle he had sitting in his parking lot. After spending a whopping 5 mins in his shop I couldn't have been happier plunking down $500 than any purchase I've ever made.

I have had 3M and Llumar on my vehicles and couldnt tell you the difference. Get some ceramic tint and most importantly, have a pro install.

    Working on it ...
OK, let us fast forward to 2021. The body shop down the road from me said they content my two front side windows on my 2019 Tacoma double cab long bed truck to match the rear windows for 150 bucks. The place has done work for me over the years and they always seem to of done right by me. But I have to ask …
    Does that sound about right?

In Washington state that sounds about right,
Another factor is quality of tint and color as well.
Sounds like you've built a good relationship with this establishment, why change now.

At a body shop, they’re definitely subcontracting it out. I’d just call some reputable local companies and get quotes, somewhere that doesn’t advertise a lot but is booked out a couple of weeks is probably a safe bet.

Tints for all windows for me was $200 in Washington. They would go as dark as I wanted.

Just got a quote yesterday to do my new TRD OR DCLB. Central Coast of CA, $550 for front and back. Adding a 50% 3M Crystalline for heat reduction and limo tint effect in the back that already has the dark tint & 3M Crystalline 35% to the fronts. Nothing on the windshield....yet. I might add it to the project though, going lighter with 50% Crystalline.
$150 just for the fronts seems reasonable based on the use of a quality tint, not just the cheap stuff. Should have a warranty, too.

About $1,000 for windshield, 4 side windows, and rear window in 3M ceramic. Plus an additional “eye brow” along the top of the windshield.

Price varies by state significantly. Ceramic tint will block a lot more heat than say regular dark tint. Also, limo tint absolutely sucks for night driving whether it's around town or trying to back up on a dirt road or trail. With that said, here in AZ $400-$600 is not unheard of for an entire vehicle, but I've paid half that in other states to do an entire vehicle.

If your local law enforcement is picky I would stick within legal limits and go ceramic. It would suck to fork out the cash and then have to pay to re do it or remove it plus the fix it ticket. 35% front and 20% rear is pretty common and if the glass has a significant curved shape that will make the windows appear darker.

Also, a roll a tint is usually inexpensive. It's the labor involved that you pay for and it does require a bit of skill. Warranty is something that factors in as well.

That front would raise eyebrows with my local Popo but it looks clean.

Off topic a bit. Are you sportin' a lift on that rig? That's about how I want my DCLB sitting.

Stock OR suspension. The bed is loaded up so it makes the front appear higher than it is.

My mom just tinted her car M550i and the whole car for regular tint was 275 and they wanted 700 for ceramic.

My friend got a quote for tint on his vette back window. They quoted $1200 just for the back window because the guy was too fat and going to take him awhile.

With today prices it probably over $2000 and he is probably bigger.
