It sounds like this has been a pretty well planned out adventure!. Thanks for the reply. I figured there was a little more. Do you both feel like traveling around a lot in it or more stationary?

I agree, RV's just seem to be built very cheap, and always working on them. I speak from experience on this.

You ever find yourself out in CO with the Tiny Home, stay for a few weeks overlooking the Sangre De Cristo mountain range. I know the property owner. He's a cock, but I can talk him into staying for free.

Absolutely I appreciate that info! We’ve been looking for land for a tiny house, more or less a cabin, so kinda just jumped on the design thinking about what we might want in the best case but for sure needs some fine tuning and all that.

Either way definitely jealous of your progress keep it!

Well that's awfully nice! I'm afraid we are more of the homestead type but I won't put it out of the realm of possibility.

As far as land goes we've had our fair share of heartache. We had a place where my wife and I could stay with her sister and their grandparents on 15 Acers like 10min from my work on a beautiful place with streams, her sisters horses and a blueberry farm we ran 2 months out of the year. It was paradise, but when her grandmother passed her grandfather said he couldn't bare to stay there any longer without his wife so we were forced to find other arrangements.

We didn't have the financial stability to purchase land and felt renting was going to be a bad idea long term. I asked my parents what I should do and they said come live with them till we figured things out. We got our shell around this time and moved it from the old place to my parent's property.
It was humbling going back to live in the room I grew up in but I was lucky I didn't burn any bridges with my parents.
We decided to work on the inside of the house as we got time off our jobs, sometimes it was really hard to find the motivation to do it especially after working 60+ hours a week.

I’ve gotta say with the work ethic from what I’ve seen with the 5lug I don’t that that’ll be an issue with you. In time you find the right fit and if that means staying with the rents for a while so be it. I mean shit I’d like some mom/dad home cooked meals!

Hahaha yeah it been about 2 years now. We've been living in the tiny house for about a year and a half. It's taken 3 years total to get us to the point we are now. I've got all the pictures saved and I'll get to uploading them over the next few days as I find the time. I'm not actually finished yet so obviously house takes priority over the thread but I still have down time at one point or another so I'll update you guys.

First thing we did after moving the house was built some stairs and install the outdoor lights and outlets. Still no power to the house but progress is progress

We purchased some northern white cedar tongue and groove boards to seal up our walls. Probably one of the best choices we made, it smells so good and it's very light for what it is, apparently it's used in shipbuilding for it's waterproofing properties.

I was given some pretty good advice right before purchasing my first house (right before I kicked my own ass...I mean married), and it was not to go balls deep in debt. Building lasting wealth takes time and hard work. My kids will always have a place to come back to if needed.

Purchasing land can be tricky, and can also crash a budget. There is a lot 1/4 mile down the road from me for 300,000.00/2.5 acres. That will take a budget and crash it pretty quickly (considering the average home price in my hood is 800K). The pictures I posted of the mountains in CO, that guy is selling that 5.29 acres for 19.5K. For me, I would rather have something like that and stay in a budget to live very comfortable every month.

I'll have to hold here for tonight. Got a lot more to upload but my eyes are rolling back into my head and I'm typing gibberish. More to come.
