When i bought my tacoma used, it had a bunch of tiny rust specs or rust looking specs all over the paint. I cleaned most of them off, and they seem to be slowley coming back. Im not sure if they are in the same spots or where they are coming from. I have no idea. It is a silver truck, so they are quite noticable.

My worry is that it is coming up from under the paint, but with a little rubbing with a damp rag they come right off. Possibly from just driving and they get blown on? I have no idea. Should i be worried?

I think your rust spots are called "Rail Dust". They come from rail cars (Trains). The metal wheels on the metal rails create small metal particles and collect on your vehicle. When they become wet they rust. It can be taken off with a clay bar.

I would say wax your truck often to prevent those metal particles from sticking in your paint.

Yeah I probably shoud keep it well waxed. I haven't waxed it in about 4 months. My last car was silver also and it had hardly any noticeable rust specs

But I am thinking I may have entire trucks buffed to ensure it is all off. If it keeps coming back I'd say I have an issue with toyota

    Get two or three.
When (not if) you drop it, just kick it into the dumpster... do not EVER pick up a dropped claybar and put it back on your paint.

Auto parts stores will have them.
They're normally packed with spray lubricant, but quick detail spray works fine as well.

For rail dust, you should consider using "iron x". You can get it at autogeek.com. Search on their forum. Lots of discussion on rail dust and how to address it.
