yeah but the seatbelt alarm wouldnt go off if you were just jumping out to then roll the truck forward. It only starts beeping after a certain speed.

Mine would start beeping as soon as I popped the belt off while moving at any speed. After a few seconds, it would beep faster.

I can't tell you about going any distance because the most dangerous part of any trip for me is getting out of our cul de sac and avoiding neighbors who burn through the stop sign.

no I was referring to if it is still on. Mine would not start beeping till I got to like 20-25 mph or something like that.

gotcha! I can't say if its mph based since I turned my off on day one. Husbands car is based on time. If you drive more than 45 seconds, it starts beeping.

That's interesting. Mine was always beeping.

The seat belt light still functions as it did before. Also in Carista, there are separate options for the left and right sides.

The only problem I dont like with using the seat belt extenders is when the wife gets in the truck, the airbag does not turn on. It assumes you are getting in with the seatbelt behind you so it wont activate. So she would have no airbag if something happened. (well now that I think of it) just kidding. when she gets in I unhook hers till she sits. works fine on my side but a pain in the ass on hers. gotta find someone to shut it off soon.

Carista worked with my 4yr old ELM 327 bluetooth OBD scan tool. You can get a free week using the app if you sign up for the one year subscription. The problem there is that the clock starts at the moment you subscribe. I goofed up thinking that it counted whole days. Also on the Android side, you have to cancel the subscription from within the Google Play store, not the app. It was a bit confusing.

So, I'm stuck with a $40 subscription. Live and learn. Doing it at home was probably worth the $40?

That is exactly what I said at 2 of the 3 I went to. at the 3rd I just said F it and left. Even left Mass to try seeing I bought it in NH and they said the same thing. I told them I wouldnt be back for another vehicle (although Im sure I would)

my thing with that is I dont see justifying buying the stuff to use it for that one thing knowing I have nothing else to change thru it. Ask the wife and she would say, "like you havent bought enough shit for that truck that doesnt have use.... like decals in the truck nobody can see"
Love that we have been together for 15 years and she still pays the mortgage out of her check and I pay all the bills and whats left is their own to spend. she just shakes her head when I buy stuff. Going to pick up a new pew pew in an hour. (for the record, that isnt a purchase she enjoys me doing. says I have too many now........NEVER TOO MANY)

I've used that BT dongle for many things. Monitoring with the Torque Pro app, checking codes, resetting CELs, and now Carista programming. At the time, I think I paid $15 for it?

Again, the Carista is either free for the trial period or you can pay $10 for 1wk access. It sounds like you might have spent more than that just in gas driving to dealers?

Oh I did. Closest dealer to me is 25 miles in NH, second is 25 in Mass and then 40 in Mass. Now that I spent that to go to those places I dont want to spend it again HAHA. BUT I probably will.

Mine is a 4yr old one that was noted to work with the Torque app. When I tried it with Carista, it worked great. I'm sure there are some noted in other threads about Carista. I believe that one of the key things to look for is an ELM 327 chip?

There is one shown in the Products box below this post (Veepeak). That might be a good starting point to search about? I'm sorry, but I have not kept up with any OBD scanners since I bought mine.

No. You'd just sign up for the free subscription and cancel immediately.

October is a long way off. I might get to the east this year. No plans yet though.
