Yes, at times I wonder if the auto dimming feature is working on mine. I’ll have to try this to see if there is any difference. Mind boggling that the little centre headrest would cause any issues.

Don’t know if it’s in this thread already, but I’ve seen so many threads about this.

 

if that headrest is in just the right spot, it can cast a shadow over the sensor on the mirror, so the sensor thinks it's dark but the headlights still hit you off the glass.

 

Like others have said, if recirculate is off and you have temperature dial set to heat, this is normal. Interestingly, you cannot turn on recirculate when you have the dial set to window/defrost.

 

The rear view mirror does more than tilt and pan. You can actually adjust the whole thing up and down. If you have trouble with the mirrors darkening, try pushing it up before taking the head rest out.

 

I have my center dash display set to fixed compass which displays speed limit in bottom right corner when you have the NAV package. The compass red needle will point in direction of travel AND the compass dial cardinal direction indicator light intensity will increase. That is, if you are heading north, 'N" will be brighter, etc.

 

I normally never let it get below about 2/3 full in the winter here in BC...you never know when you might spend a few hours stuck in a storm. But, in the summer on a long road trip I have tried to stretch things out and can get to ~750 km on the trip odometer before the "warning low fuel" light comes on. That's pretty close to 470 miles, but that's on premium (91) fuel and keeping to the speed limits in BC (generally either 62 or 55 mph in your units) Given my slightly larger tires (235/85R16) that's more like a real 780 km/490 miles. Probably 95%+ of that in 6th gear on a manual.

Edit: the summer trip referenced above was in my 2018 AC TRDOR, which had literally the same wheels and tires, but not the factory lift. Haven’t had the new one (modded as noted above) out on a long highway run yet.

 

i think this may be OR only(my SR did not) but definitely will keep in lower gear on declines if you have held the brake for at least a second or two, and I believe you must depress it enough to engage the hold downshift function while in pure auto mode.

No, if the seat is folded down, there is no shadow on the sensor which is located on the mirror. The problem only exists when the shadow from the lights behind cast onto the mirrors’ sensor. The mirror can be adjusted as high as it can go mechanically, and it will still happen if the headrest in the path.

I didn’t engineer it, so I’ll agree, stupid.

 

This has to be the standard mirrors only. My factory homelink mirror doesnt do this.

 

If you meant “doesn’t”, it does. There are instructions and pictures in the owners manual.

Guess ill have to check it out then. I just saw the post and went out to try it and gave up quickly lol. The position its in doesnt really bother me. My back window tint is so dark its practically useless anyways

 

It’s sort of stiff. Just check the manual for an idea of how it moves and be gentle. There’s a couple of posts here from people who supposedly cracked their windshields by torquing on the mirror too hard

 

I mean when the center rear headrest is folded down not the seat! I own a 2022 and I keep the rear center seat headrest in the folded position, and this has never happened to me. In fact, when it is up it restricts your view which is precisely why Toyota designed it to fold for normal everyday operation when no one is sitting in the rear center position.

How does one set the center dash display to a fixed compass etc.

I have a 2021 Sport with some sort of dash display that takes USB and blue tooth. I can't say much more. Most of the buttons on the right side just pop up a text message that says "what the heck are you doing here? You need additional authorization to proceed" ;-)

 

Can anyone shed light on a small "issue" regarding iPod and iPod Shuffle?

My classic iPod plugs into the USB port and works just fine.
Today I plugged in my wife's Shuffle to the USB port and got a "Device not supported" message.

Do I need to use the Apple Play feature for the Shuffle? The AA works fine for my iPod.

 

The rear sensing blind spot monitors work and coincide with the large sensors in the corners of the bumpers, if one is disconnected the blind spot monitors do not work, i know when i lost half my bumper last year due to an accident.,
