When done off-roading, I add air back to the tires then I reset TPMS to know the tires have equal psi all around.

My last car had a button to manually activate the parking sonar and backup camera. The camera would stay on and shutoff after driving away. I found this useful since my driveway is on an incline and I like to back out of it while in neutral. I doubt the camera will burn up.

Of course you must reset the TPMS after changing the air pressure within the tires.

That is not what the original question or my answer was about. If you simply rotate your tires, you do not need to reset the TPMS. All you've done is change the POSITION of the tires, not the pressure. The TPMS may not know that the LF tire is now in the LR position, but is still knows if the pressure is + or + an acceptable variance from the other three tires. The light will not come on, which is what we are trying to avoid.

Now, if you do develop a leak in the future, the TPMS may point to the wrong tire since if does not know in which position each tire truly occupies. But that should be obvious once you stop to check.

Number 6 "The truck will chime if you open the door before turning the engine off and keeps chiming until you close it after exiting the vehicle. This can be disabled. You can disable the chime. Apps>setup>Vehicle>vehicle customization. The truck must be running to access this menu." I can't seem to find this setting? Any help would be great!

This was my error. Sorry. The chime can only be disabled by the dealer. Page 596 of the owners manual.

why do you need to reset the TPMS when you change the air pressure? They report the air pressure all the time. My TPMS screen shows changes of 1-2 pounds when the tires heat up on the road. There is no need to reset the system when you change tire pressure

Knowing how computers and sensors work, its good to reset them from time to time. From my testing against a handheld Psi gauge I have found some inconsistencies in the TPMS readings. I'm still trying to figure it out.

Here is one for the list,

If you hold the sunroof button for about 2 seconds it will open or close automatically. similar to the auto up / down on the driver / passenger windows.

My understanding is that if tacitos, after off-roading, brings his tires back up to some pressure that is some Toyota-determined level DIFFERENT from when he last pushed the button to reset, the TPMS light will illuminate. Certainly if he were running 38 psi before off-roading, 20 psi during off-roading, and then back up to 31 psi after off-roading (I made up those values), the light will illuminate, even if all four tires are within 1-2 psi of each other.

But we are getting way off subject. My original statement, quoted by tacitos, was in regard to a question from another member who asked why it was necessary to reset the TPMS after simply rotating the tires. No change in pressure, up or down, simply changing position on the truck. I said then, and I repeat now, that there is no reason to reset after rotating the tires. If the TPMS was happy before rotation, it will be happy after rotation. It 'may' be confused about which tire is where, but if you did not fiddle with the pressures, there will be no light illuminated.

I agree and respectfully disagree with regards to rotating tires. Sure its not big deal, but if one of your tires does loose pressure after tire rotation, it may take you longer to figure out which one since the dash tells you which corner is low. Resetting TPMS allows the system to know what corner the sensors are on.

Added location of the tailgate key since people continue to make threads asking where it is. Either they have it, it's in the glove box, or the dealer forgot to hand it over.

What about the key holder? You it says there a clip in the console you can use, do you mean the clip for a pen?

That clip holds the tailgate key pretty well too. If you are using it for a pen, then I guess you would be SOL on that one though.

There is a company that makes a modification for this exact spot so you can put a few switches there. Let me see if I can find it.
