I'm really am a tech manual geek.
New digital camera. Read the manual.
New power tools. Read the manual.
New whole house water filter. Yup, read that one too... It's kind of sad really!

Sadly I have read the manual about 10 times, and the only thing I cannot find is the instructions for changing the screen image. Grrr. I knwo there is a thread, but I am anal and like to read about it.

Very impressive list of cool info, thank you. Regarding #14 my key fob for ignition also locks, unlocks tailgate. Perhaps this is a lower trim level thing. I have a SR5, Access Cab, 4x4. Very helpful notes , thanks again

edit: hmm appears I do not have the nav manual which explains why I have not been able to find it. Will have to wait until get the truck in hand. Never realized there was more then one manual.

    2. The doors won't lock w the Fob in the car.

Does anyone know how to get around this? I do a lot of rafting and The car shuttle services usually hide the keys somewhere in or around the car.

    Thanks

Try disabling the key - bottom of page 123 of the owner's manual. If you do lock it in the car, how are you going to get back in?

I have 2 fobs. I want to allow the shuttle company to lock one fob in the car, I'll have the 2nd fob with me as I float down the river

Out of curiosity does the Tacoma have a way to start the ignition should the fobs go bad? Some of the other cars I have used/been in you flip up the switch/panel and insert the key and start it like a normal car. Is this doable with the taco's?

I see in the manual it says it holds a reserve in the fob so you can place it against the button to start and if that doesn't work you reset the system by the shifter knob. And if that doesn't work you contact Toyota. Am I missing something here, seems kind of odd there is not a backup system to the fob.

Bare with me my truck won't be ready until sometime this week, so I haven't gotten the full walk thru.

    Regards

    Steve

Oh and I don't believe the Toyota app works in Canada. We only have a Toyota care app, which if I remember correctly is garbage

I didn't see anything about a warning or indicator when the fob battery is running low. Any insight, anyone?

That is where I got the above info, it just does a better job of explaining what I was trying to do. Odd, you would think there would be a key system as well for backup, hence why there is a key, well besides locking the tailgate and glove box. Mind you I have never heard of one of these fob systems not working though.
