Why does the 2016 Tacoma has the switch for lane assist or the blind spot monitor (near Qi wireless charging switch)? I would think we would want it on all the time? am i missing something?

I'm not sure on that one. I don't necessarily need the safety features but I sure wouldn't turn them off if they are available to me.

This is an assumption so take it for what it's worth. I doubt that most people getting all the bells and whistles will do very much serious off-roading, but you never know. And in a few years, the new is worn off and you may not care as much. I would think that this would be something you would want to turn off while off roading, especially on a tight log trail or with a bunch of trees around so the alarm and lights aren't giving you constant warnings. Just a thought.

The Qi charger thing is worthless in my opinion, would have rather had another storage area.

I think I went into DEST and cancelled it. It asked me if I was sure and I pressed yes. It was a pain in the ass to find while driving

Is your phone not compatible with it? I love it!! I can have my blue tooth connected, set the phone on the pad and I don't have to have wires hooked up to a charger. It's the best thing since sliced bread and pop top cans as far as I'm concerned!! LOL. To each their own.

This is a small issue that bugs me, but if I'm parked in P and open the driver's door and then turn the truck off with the start/stop button, the truck will chime at me and I get the "door ajar" notification on the dash, after the truck is turned off. Is there a way to disable this chime? I used to always open my door before shutting the truck off in my '15 and never got that chime, and I realize it's a small annoyance but it gets me almost every time. I looked through the thread and maybe I missed it if a solution was already posted.

I noticed this too, I need to really take some time to go through all the small settings in the Entune system as I only use what is necessary most of the time and search for things that are a one-off. There are tons of settings in there, even a way to setup the Dealer info for whatever dealership you use for service. You can set dates for oil changes, filter replacements, and a myriad of other things too. I think I'll turn this post into a small thing for the list. As far as the backup cam thing goes, I recall reading someone else asking about that too but am not sure if they got an answer. I would assume it would be considered "not safe" and is why it's off when not in reverse to begin with since it could be considered distracting. We all know how some people are, they want to file a lawsuit to get free money over their own negligence these days and is probably why it was disabled unless in reverse.

I turn it off when I go offroading. I don't need to know every second that I am passing a tree and it gets in the way when I am trying to get through a tight spot. I don't want it flashing at me grabbing my attention.

iPhone 7 will be compatible. All iPhone owners are screwed until then. I wish I could use this feature NOW. I prefer Bluetooth connectivity over USB because I don't like having the cable, but because Bluetooth drains batteries so fast, it makes perfect sense to have the wireless charging feature under the stereo unit.

Agreed! However, my phone isn't even 5 months old yet lol The dealer told me "Well you can get the iPhone 7 when it comes out and it will work" meanwhile Im thinking to myself.."I just bought a brand new truck, what makes you think I can go out and buy a new iPhone" lol

I was wondering the same thing. I thought of asking this question. I don't know of ANY vehicle that allows for the rear camera to be on all the time but I could see it's value. Just another backup to the rear view mirror right? But it could be viewed as a distraction as well. I'm wondering if there isn't an expected life on the camera element and if it is on all the time it just would burn up quicker. I'd be surprised if a good reliable answer can be gotten on this outside of "it's unsafe".
