No problem. I forget what size they were but I had to slightly open the holes on the bumper a little to make it fit so if I had to put the plate back on, then I will have to get new bolts

Do you wax the new 2016 Tacoma after 1 year? The dealers say no and I am curious because I want paint protection for the life of the truck.Anybody have any ideas?

Why would the dealer say no? Curious as to the reasoning?

Dealers are idiots. Wax before the year is over for sure.

Dealers are there to SELL trucks NOT maintain them.... just try to get your tranny fluid checked... hehe

A lot of good products out there .... McGuires is one of them.... Check it out... Depending on how you drive it and the conditions... 2 or 3 times a yr. is good if you want it to look good...

On my black Taco hood I used Mcquiars wax.

On the front bezel and bumper I am trying:

The picture is of my hood after waxing (I wax black cars and polish in one direction, no swirls)Hood wax.jpg

I waxed mine twice in 3 months....keeps it looking good and protects the paint. Not waxing right away is best after a repaint, like from repairs from an accident because the paint has to fully cure, but not necessary from the factory. I like a polymer sealant like Meguiars ultimate paste wax, it bonds to the paint. If you want great color shine results, try a glaze (not polish), then apply the paste wax. For the warm glow of carnuba, you can top the sealant wax about 24 hours later with a carnuba wax. I'm picky about keeping my paint job looking good as much as possible.

Sounds like you like have this figured out.. So what would you recommend for a first time wax job.?? Sounds kinda confusing, with so many options.....!

    Thanx for the advice..

Go with the meguiars ultimate paste wax...it is easy to apply and remove, even in full sun! It is kinda pricey at about $25, but you put it on in very light layers and the can will last for quite a while. It will stain any black plastic, so wipe it off really quickly with the supplied towel and it will disappear. I love the paste wax myself, it works great and even smells good! :)

Liquid waxes work good but don't last as long and carnuba will last about max of about 6 weeks. The wax I recommend above will last longer than most others due to the polymer qualities, but won't have the deep warm glow of carnuba, so if you want the warm glow with the long lasting effect, do the ultimate paste wax then use a liquid carnuba wax the next day. My paint still beads up from just the ultimate paste wax that I applied about 6 weeks ago....gonna do it again this week if the weather holds. I don't have a garage, so long lasting protection is very important to me - think bird crap being easy to wipe off!

I am going to get some collinite (I think it's the#845 wax) for the winter protection - it is a heavy duty wax that will last thru winter months until better weather sets in.

They said that the truck has a sealant on it and needs no wax, only another sealant application next year.

Sealant on mine too but can't wait to polish it off and do my own thing. Dealer's sealant has no pop to the paint.

Sealants are good, but waxing over it won't hurt, only adds more protection. If you want better shine or glow just use some carnuba wax, it will do the job and look good.
