This may already be in here somewhere, but I didn't see it and there is way too much content to read all of it. Question: I read somewhere that you can change the feature on your turn signal where you tap it and it blinks three times, to blinking five times instead. Anyone? I would much prefer the five blinks. Thanks!

 

Just ask the dealer to change it next time you are in for service.

 

Last time I was in for service, I asked them to perform the trans TSB and they told me I'd have to make another appointment.

 

I suggest you go to a new dealer, it is simple stuff....

 

I have the Premium & Technology Package and can change the number of "blinks" under settings in the menu.

 

Is it for the turn signals, or the number of times the lights blink when you lock/unlock the doors?

 

I can set the number of blinks for the turn signal

 

You might have a unicorn there. It's not listed as one of the user customization options and most have reported needing something like Carista or a trip to the dealer.

 

I will have to double check ... I was playing around with it the other day and found all kinds of user settings in a sub menu ... when I get home from work I will confirm ... perhaps I have misspoken ... still learning

 

I didn't like that feature so I changed it. it was under the etune settings, I think under "vehicle" and then "customize" maybe? I do remember the truck has to be stopped when you do this.

I set it so that when I walk up to the door with the fob in, it only opens the drivers side door. Also set it up that 1 push of the unlock on fob opens all 4 doors.

 

What? I've been looking for this. Got details? (Not at truck at the moment)

 

Is it a '17? Can't do that on a '16. Has to be programmed via TechStream or Carissa.

That said, I don't have the tech package.

 

On the '16 with tech package, same as yours. Can't be done via the head unit.

 

I looked again last night and I couldn't find anywhere to change it.

I have a 16 TRD Sport and I’m able to drive off without key fob in my possession. I started my truck and gave the key fob to my Wife who took the key fob into the house. Truck started to beep and icon came up on interment panel. I figured the truck would shut off when I went from P to R and D. I drove down the block and truck didn’t turn off, just beeped. I pulled over and put truck into P and back into D and drove home.
Now I know not to leave my truck running if I need to run into the house.

Is it possible to fix this issue or is this in Toyota’s hands?

 

This is working as designed. Imagine if you will, the battery dying in the fob when you are 1/2 way to where ever you are going. You wouldn't want the truck to shut off would you?

In fact you can even start the truck with the fob if the battery is dead. Simply hold the Toyota emblem on the back of the fob to the button.

 

But don't turn it off while you're away from your wife with the fob. She'll have to come fetch you...
