I don't think I'd try to get to bare metal across the entire bed, but at least to the original prep- vacuum everything, acetone wipe down, and then send it on the raptor.

Yeah, the prep I did on the Hurculiner was to bare metal for a bunch of it. That wasn't really the goal, but I wanted to make sure I got at *least* the clear coat off everywhere.

Their phone number was included so I called it and it was probably no longer in service. I decided to google the company, found them and called the current number. Spoke to a very nice gentleman about my issue and he said this:

1) Their product is extremely difficult to remove! He suggested a hammer and a chisel, to which we both laughed.

2) I asked him what should I do and he suggested that I sand the crap out of it and to use a BA (can't remember what that stood for, but something along the lines of some type of sander).

3) He then suggested I can just roll whatever product onto the top of theirs which I like very much.

I will follow-up when I finally get the time and chance to work on this project. For now, my main focus is installing new strut (coilovers) and shocks.

line-x has a lifetime warranty. I believe it’s registered to the vin (there’s a lookup on their site). I’d goto one of their shops and let them deal with it

It's "lifetime" but for the original owner according to their link I posted a couple posts back.

Sounds like the OP got some really odd "advise" from someone at line-x telling them to just spray "whatever" on top of it. Doesn't sound like something line-x would say...

Yup- same. The bed rail tops have almost completely gone bare of the herculiner, and the bed sides and bottom have held up better, but not great. But again, $100 bucks vs $700-$1000 for Line-x.. not bad..

So I actually just used both of these the other day for my bed liner. From my experience, the wire wheel took off the bed liner faster but didn’t get down to the metal as fast as the abrasive wheel. It might be worth just getting both of them like I did so you have options. So I guess it depends if you just want to scuff up the original paint or if you want to get down to the bare metal.
Also, the abrasive wheel eventually wore down where as the wire wheel did not. Food for thought.
