Tips for buying a used bed cap?

No those wires are in the trucks tail light. The cap only has the break light wires(& the dome but not worried about that now). I was asking which one of the green wires going to the trucks light I should tap. I want to just wire into the disconnect plug on the Toyota tail light.

 

if you tap into the truck brake light will it make the 3rd brake light on the camper shell blink when you use the blinkers?

 

No. That is a separate connection all together.

 

It's the green-red wire for the break. I just hooked it up today. I have pics if anyone wants a write up let me know. I'll start a new thread

 

there is already a ton of threads on this, but some say the blinkers will make the brake lights flash. post up some pics though. Curious to see how clean it looks.

 

Here is my setup. I went to my local marine shop to get marine grade connections and some gel.
First I drilled through and ran my feed wires.


Next I Striped the wires and attached these disconnects in-case I ever wanted to quickly remove the top.


I used quick crimp splices on the tail light wires. Green-red is the break.


Then I attached everything in the back. Havent ran the dome cable yet which is the other set not connected. I tucked the wires behind the bed liner and was done.


Don't forget to disconnect the third break on the cab.

I know this thread is old, but I sold my '01 Tacoma Dbl Cab and bought a '02 Ext Cab. The bed cap didn't sell with the '01, but it obviously won't fit the '02.
I noticed other people saying they had caps to sell so I hope it is OK to say that I have one also.
I am in Marietta, SC but would be willing to drive up to 200 miles if someone really wants it. It is an A.R.E., Mystic Gold metallic color. Photos are available. I am asking $400 obo.
