These Michelin’s wear like steel, could easily get 70-80k outta them. Probably the best tires for pavement use.

Or you were asking how long OEM tires last? Not long usually, 30-40k or so.

I don't do any off-roading unless hunting up in the woods. It's mostly road use, hauling, back and forth to work, etc.

I’d recommend not buying tires until you’re close to buying a new set. The rubber won’t last forever even when stored under ideal conditions. By the time you wear your current tires the “new” tires may not be good anymore.

Those Michelin’s would be a perfect choice for you then.

I second the vote for Michelin tires. I had a set on my 2001 Dodge Cummins diesel truck, they were the LTX M/S tires (same tires you posted link to), OEM from the factory. Most of my driving was pavement, with an annual hunting trip with some off road driving. I replaced the original Michelins at 108K miles and about 8 years on them, because I thought the sidewalls were starting to crack. They still had at least 1/3 tread depth left. I wanted a more aggressive tread pattern for my Tacoma, otherwise I would have replaced my OEM Goodyears with these Michelins without even thinking about it.

If you really want new tires buy them, get them mounted, then sell your OEM tires to recoup some of the cost. They will sell quickly if new on Craigslist or Facebook or any local listing site of your choice.

I was thinking that these (Toyo) tires would only last 20k miles...

Tires have a date stamp and should be replaced somewhere between 6-10 years old even if they've never been used. Rubber deteriorates over time. Tires used in hot sunny climates will be dangerous after about 6 years. If kept garaged in the shade, and especially in colder climates where they see little direct sunlight then closer to 10 years.

If you think you can use them before the date runs out on them and if the price is right go for it. Otherwise no.

I did not know any of that information, thank you for that. I would probably store them in the basement if I were to buy.

I sold my OEM tires and upsized to a better tire.

Sell them while they are new

With only 2200 miles put em up for 600 OBO and I personally would accept 350-500, take good pics and post the manufacture date so people know they’re new when they’re looking for used tires

Buy your tires when you need them. Tires will age sitting around which is as bad as some dealers selling older stock at bargain prices, then you wonder why tires you just bought are weather cracking after a year or two.

I did the same as i already bought new tires for my gen1 tundra a month earlier before deciding to sell the truck. I put those tires on my new tacoma, and sold the oem ones.

Are you wondering about future availability of tires in the stock size of 245/75R16? Or that Michelin will discontinue their best-selling road tire for decades that comes in every size under the sun?

The answer to both is "nothing to worry about." If either of those things comes to pass it's because society has crumbled amidst catastrophic global nuclear conflict, in which case you don't need new tires because you'll only have the gas left in your tank lol.

FWIW tires look small when they're on your truck, but once you stack four of them in your basement you'll wish you just waited.
