I’ve been needing new tires soon and right now I’m running 285/70R17 Yokohama M/T’s and I’ve got a small lift about 2 front 1 and 1/2 in the rear.
I’m thinking I may regear and get new tires at the same time. The truck is a manual trans, it would hold cruise in 6th fine on my daily commute till I put the bigger tires on now I have to shift for hills, gets old when you drive 90 miles a day. Also take off in places like Smokey mountains, having to start on an incline has been aweful on the clutch. I’m thinking of going up in tire size right now I have no rub anywhere. I don’t mind to cmc, I don’t mind to beat fenderis in, but I don’t want to cut fenders. An amount of bumper trimming would be fine with me tho. Does anyone have experience with something closer to a 34 (285/75R17)? Nitto also has their trail grappler available in a C range 35-11.50R17, maybe with it being more narrow than most 35’s it won’t be as prone to rubbing. Also, most guys from my reading on here go 4.88 gears on manual Tacomas, I’m kinda thinking 5.29’s I’m not worried about mpg at all just don’t need it screaming when I go 65-70. I appreciate any help anyone could give on this, I’ve done alotta research on this but I’m probly spending about 3,500 on all this and really want to make the right choice.
