This is what I run and can remove in 5 min which is what I did today to move a treadmill.

Cut off side brackets closest to axel BUT tire will be used as an axel bump when flexing offroad LOL

What about just using OEM roofrack? Ive strapped heavier stuff than spare tire to it, even if you have to make an aditional braket to make sure it doesnt move, i still think its an option. ??? Thoughts...

Or, if you dont have an OEM roof rack, make an aluminum rack for the tire that bolts to roof rack mounts. Plenty of machinist here i am sure could help. If your stuck, how often can you get to your spare tire under the bed?

I only carry a 2nd full spare when I'm out hunting, fishing, exploring, etc., so I don't need a permanent mounting solution. I simply place the spare vertically up against the front of the bed and secure using a ratchet strap & the OEM tie town cleats. Then I place my tool & recovery gear tote up against that. With my rubber bed mat, nothing moves.

Off roading, just strap the tire inside the bed or up against the cab. On road , leave your spare at home, call AAA to tow you to a tire shop. $120 a year will get you one 200 mile tow and three 100 mile tows. Four entitlements per year tows, tire changes, gas delivery, lock outs.

Good point! If you only carry an oem spare on daily bases, towing would be best option. Would be hell on a rear diff with LSD driving with 33"+ on one side and OEM 30" on the other. Also remember if you dont have AAA, you can add roadside assistance to your auto insurance policy for like $2 a month!

I work for a AAA service provider (contractor), I have nothing to do with the sales side, just the services. We also provide services for other insurance companies. AA advertises, and pushes us to arrive on scene within 30 minutes, which at times can be difficult with traffic and call volume during peak hours, but were usually on scene within 15 minutes to an hour give or take even during our busiest days/times.
When we get calls from other insurance providers, the customer 99% of the time has been waiting at least 3 hours before were even dispatched, and usually half to full hour to reach them. AA has service contractors were as most insurance companies have bidding procedures they must follow for each call they receive. I have State Farm insurance, and roadside assistance is covered on my policy, but I still have AAA which a still pay full price for, no freebies for their Contractors. Like most people, I don't have four hours to wait on the side of the freeway.

FYI, you can also call a tow truck yourself or pop a lock yourself, then give the invoice to insurance company and they will pay you back if you have roadside assistance. Lol, when i was an adjuster for SF, i locked my keys in my truck and was in a hurry. A state farm agent i knew happen to be passing by while pop a lock was unlocking my truck so he stopped. LOL, not thinking... (forgot you cant handle your own claim) i just pulled out my SF claims check book and started writing the check to the pop a lock guy because i knew it was covered. The agent was like... "Uhhh, dumb ass, remember you cant handle your own claim!" So i voided the check and he wrote one to pay the guy, lol (and yes, we went to his office and filed the claim)

Wilco off-road is who I will be buying from once I can afford it. They have several products that still allow you to use your bed, which is what a truck is for

image.jpg image.jpgI don't use the strap anymore. I had a large screw type jack welded in the center and a cone adapter made for the center of the wheel. I don't have any good pictures yet.
