    Any idea why
    BLIZZAK DMV2
    P 265 /75 R16 is cheaper then
    BLIZZAK DMV2
    P 265 /70 R16?

I have 2 sets of rims and was thinking about getting 2 sets of tires. The Blizzaks for the winter and Mich Defender for other times of the year. Costso has a sale right now on the Blizzaks. Next week or so will be the Michelin's Best recommendations?

    Thanks

P265/75/16 is a much more common tire used on a lot of trucks. 265/70/16 is an option only sold on a handful of vehicles from the factory and most people don't go back to that size when they replace them. Since they don't sell as many they charge more.

The 265/75/16's are the same width, but about 1" taller than 265/70/16's. It is a pretty common upgrade for guys driving Tacoma's. It is the biggest tire you can put on a Tacoma with no modifications and no real downsides.

Load rating is also a factor in pricing

not sure, the 265/75/16 could be a more popular size?

As for the tire flavors, I think you're going down the right road. The Michelin Defenders are a great road tire but a true snow tire will be best when winter comes. I've got 265/75/16 Blizzak DMV2s on my second set of wheels right now and have had Blizzaks before. Blizzaks are a good tire, but I haven't loved these ones. They don't have the lateral traction I was expecting coming from the WS80 flavor on my Subarus....the truck still tends to slip side-to-side on winter roads, even up front while turning in 4x4. Not always though, and they're certainly better than my Cooper ST Maxx summer tires. The DMV2s are also P-rated, and I've blown one just driving on the highway. Could have been a freak thing, but hard to overlook vs the Coopers. Blizzak makes a W965 flavor that's E-load in 265/75/16, but from what I've read, the DMV2 is the better compound so I'm going to pass on the W965s.

Next time around I'm going to try the Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3. They're D-rated in 265/75/16 but I like the stronger sidewalls for my truck tires. Worth taking a look at. Rave reviews and they're the ones that invented the winter tire in the first place.
