Makes sense. However, it won’t sit lower than the hitch so really, I will have the same amount of ground clearance. I don’t have the high clearance rear bumper and I don’t really drag my truck on rocks. So no rock crawling for me.

Trying to decide which tip and route I’d rather have:

What is the benefit of doing a dual?

There’s not really a benefit at this point in time. I mean depending on what I end up going with and if there is a turbo developed in the future would dictate a lot. However, for now, mostly looks and to have it more of a balanced look in the rear. I also hate the exhaust right behind the tire. I’ve thought about just chopping it but I’m not sure I want to do that

I chopped mine way up high just after the axle and had the last hangar protruberance removed as well. Should be able to fit a full sized 285/75/16 up there with all that room now. You’ll be fine running the spare that close to the shield especially for a small amount of time.

You must live in a "Sanctuary City", lol.

If it was me, I'd put it in the truck's bed and lock it with a cable & lock to your bed loops. At least it'd slow 'em down and there'd be no contact with the tire.

I use to live in NJ right accross from NYC and I kept mine in the bed of my truck for a year there. Never once was stolen. Check out my spare tire mount and I locked it in place with my cable lock. I’d go into the city almost every weekend
