I did a search through the forum and didn't find what I'm looking for, so thought I'd just throw this out there. Just looking for an opinion from someone who might have tried something similar.

I've got a 2008 TRD OR, and about 63K miles ago I bought a set of 17x9 XD Revolver wheels for it, in anticipation of lifting the truck. They came with 265/70R17s. Long story short, I never got around to lifting the truck, still have the wheels, and want to keep them... but now I need new tires.

These 265/70R17s do rub a bit, and I want to get rid of that, because I'm pretty sure the rubbing contributed to the fact that the wheel bearings went bad on the front (to date, the only thing that's gone wrong with this truck). The offset/backspace of these wheels is very different to stock wheels, but am I right in thinking that I'd solve my rubbing problem if I went to 265/65R17s? That would be stock tire height; I know the geometry will be a bit different due to the different offset/backspace, but I'd hope that losing an inch of diameter might fix the rubbing issue.

Thanks for any help, appreciate it.

It depends on the offset of The rims.

yes, the smaller tires will help you with rubbing, but if you have aggressive offset, it might still rub.

i had stock tires and rims on my 2015, put 1.5” spacer (just like adding a lot of negative offset) and it rubbed with the stock 265-70-16
