Will a 285/70r17 tire fit the factory 17x7 trd off road rims?

You'd need a rim diameter spacer. But those tend to leak air.

its always a good rule of thumb to look at the size of tire you already have on the truck before guessing rim size.

Yes they're 16" rims. My bad on the typo. I have a 2/1 leveling kit and 1.5" spacers. Plenty of room for the 285, but manufacturer recommends a 7.5" rim. I have 265's on it, can't see 3/4" making that much difference.

You already have the answer from tire people but you want us to tell you otherwise? I would go with a 7.5. I have 265's on an 8" rim

All tires have a min mid max wheel width recommendation.

It's preferable to use the mid, but don't go outside the min max ranges.

Of course you'll find it less expensive to buy the correct size tire for your current wheel than to buy both wheels and larger tires. Something to consider, especially if it's only for that 'aggressive look'.
