I recently bought a 99 Tacoma 2.7 4x4. The previous owner (an agriculture company) installed LT225/75/16 tires. These are not the stock wheels because I know stocks were 15's. I do not have the money to go back to 15's, but it needs tires now. My question is for those that possibly have gone down this route, can I install 265/75/16 with out any major issues to the fenders and with out spacers?? This is mostly my hunting/fishing rig, but it could go up for sale. The engine is at 265k miles. I know its not too much but in all honesty I dont feel too much confidence in the truck and would hate to get stranded out in the middle of no where while hunting. Any info on the tires will be great. Thanks guys.

Stranded from different tires? Or you think the bigger size would make you have any issues? 265k isn't a lot (relatively) of miles if it's been maintained well.

Its been maintained good but those 265k miles are hard worked miles. Everything seems to be in good shape. The stranded part was due to the fact that it has high miles. I just want to know if I can fit 265/75/16 tires. I think that the current 225's are a bit narrow. Or I could be wrong. It wont see too much mud, but mostly gravel, rocks, sand and loose dirt. I feel a wider tire could get me farther. Suggestions?
