Yet the TireRack reviews say otherwise about wet performance. I've run them on two trucks with zero issues in wet or snow

    https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...oma 4WD&autoModClar=Double Cab#RatingsReviews

I think it's one of those things that people on TW repeat over and over because they read it somewhere back in 2006 from a user who was trying to justify buying Nankangs Wild Hills

It’s possible. I only seriously considered first hand experience reviews. And since a lot of people have them and a lot of folk are here on TW you can find their posts and see what they say about the wet pavement performance.

Sure I would take anyone’s review with a grain of salt but I just came across multiple postings of at least 4..5? Speaking to the not ideal wet pavement performance they wanted.

But if you got good performance in wet pavement and snow I’m not gonna write you off either lol. Probably comes down to the metrics of how we all gauge what is “good” and what scenarios in our head we want it to be good for. I wanted good breaking on wet pavement and snow. And keeping traction on launch would also be ideal lol

I'm just speaking from my own experience.
I'm not heavy footed. But I've spun them many times while pulling out into traffic during normal acceleration. Braking is similar. I've slid many times on wet pavement while turning in. Never really had this issue with other vehicles. I can honestly say I may have the same issues with similar tires.

OP I’m in Oak Ridge so if you want to swap a wheel off and look at it on your truck you’re welcome. I run Ridge Grapplers on my 4Runner 285/70/17. I also ran Wildpeak AT3 on my Taco last 2 years in 265 flavor. When we got dumped on with 15+ inches last year they were superb. Honesty best tire I have owned. Great wet weather traction for all this damned rain.

About to build an ark man lol. The Ridge Grapplers are actually sitting in my garage on FN Pro wheels waiting on my coilovers to come in, but my buddy runs them on his Tundra and loves them. They are awesome so you can’t go wrong. Very few complaints on them.

    This and that...
Need more sizes for that one. Would be a perfect fit for me if they did. Going Duratracs I think. Currently on Wildpeaks. Getting a camper this fall.

Ive never had a problem on wet roads with KO2s, one of the best all round AT tires, I’d buy it again. In the size your looking for I'd go C load Duratrac. Looks better than a lot of tires, good weight and really who wants a boring looking truck.

I've owned 4 of these tires. I'm really happy with my Wildpeaks right now, but I'll eventually go back to KO2s. Just can't beat the snow performance, in my experience. The only tires from your list that I've owned and disliked were the Duratracs. Looked great, drove OK, sucked in snow, and sounded like MTs.

Goodyear has a 25% off code for USAA members through the app. That has me switch from the BFG’s to Goodyear.

In my experience KO2’s are good in snow, but scary on a wet highway. They hydroplane more than any tire I’ve ever had. I’ve run them on 3 different vehicles and was content with them.

I tried ST Maxx this time, on my first Tacoma... I’ll never go back to KO2’s. The ST Maxx are more expensive, but they are even better in the snow and are fine at higher speeds in the rain.

Also one thing to note, I had to have 2-4 KO2’s rebalanced after initial install on each vehicle. One vehicle they literally warrantied out the new set of four with my certs to another new set of four because they were so hard to balance.

I have KO2s atm and am definitely not going to be buying them again. The amount of times I have done involuntary drifting on turns and around corners when it was wet was too much for me. I also had multiple horrific times while stopped on a hill in the rain. Any slight pressure on the gas pedal and I was just spinning in place. I would have to pace myself to where I could roll into the intersection by the time it was green so I didn’t have to stop. I also by no means have a lead foot, very slow accelerations in all weather just for gas mileage’s sake. Everyone’s opinion is going to be slightly different but this is just my experience.

Started off wanting Nitto Nidge Grapplers. Then started leaning towards the Cooper Discoverer XLT.
But damn, if these Falken WildPeaks aren't growing on me!

I had the exact same requirements for my tires. I went with nitto ridge grapplers. I’ve had them for over 40k miles, no issues at all. Looking to get another 10k out of them for sure.

They aren't included in your pole, but I am a fan of the General Grabber ATX. I've got about 15k on mine and they show very little wear. They've been great in the rain and I may get to test them out in the snow (minimal) today. I've had several sets of Grabber AT2's on previous vehicles and they all went 55k and I could have gone a little further but swapped them out. They were awesome in the rain and snow. The ATX's are pretty solid price wise as well.

I've used Cooper's in the past on multiple vehicles with no issues. But when I needed new tires for my F150 last fall discovered they had changed their marketing and they were priced over what I wanted to pay. For years they only sold to independent dealers and offered $70-$80 rebates 3-4 times each year. I've been able in the past to get them priced at a point along with the rebate that it was hard to buy anything else.

They will no longer sell to smaller shops and the bigger stores are proud of them. I haven't seen a rebate lately either.

Plus I just wanted something with a bit more aggressive tread. I considered BFG KO2's which are the default choice for a 4X4 by many people. The Falken's are highly thought of at a lower price. But I settled on these Pirelli's. They ended up costing about $400 less than BFG, about the same as Falken and less than Cooper.

    https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Pirelli&tireModel=Scorpion+All+Terrain+Plus

The pic doesn't do them justice. Placed side by side with the BFGs in the store they have a more aggressive tread. Ride is good, they have done great in mud. No snow yet, but they do have the snowflake rating so they should be good. They are the best rain tire I've ever had. Ride is great, even with the E rated tire I went with and they are quiet.

Pics of them on my Ford.
