I’m aware. Still doesn’t show up no matter what and the dealer didn’t really know either when I asked them about it a few months ago. I’ve never had to actually use it off-road, I was just surprised when I noticed the low pressure light come on.

I have another appointment on Monday at the dealership. I'll post up results next week.

I took a screw to the left rear tire a few days ago. Had the tire patched. The tire shop called me and asked what model vehicle it was so they could program the sensor correctly - I'm guessing they may have broke the old one? Not sure. Anyhow, I'm having the same exact problem. Going to call the dealer tomorrow. In the meantime, I found this that seems to perhaps explain one possible reason it's happening (i.e. especially if you have a new sensor) and the solution:

Just picked up my truck from dealership. They said that the sensors were stuck in judgement mode and could not communicate new sensor location. They said the tire installer probably put the sensors in different position than when I brought it in. The installers programmer couldn't change the positions. The dealerships used their laptop to relearn the tpms positions. All is good. Pressures display on my dash. I did ask what would happen if I rotated my tires. They said the pressures would probably show, but in the wrong positions. Isn't technology wonderful?

That is what the TPMS reset button that I posted earlier is for. You use that after you rotate your tires so the truck learns where each sensor is currently located.

    The fix is use Techstream.

I’ve had my truck 5 years and rotated my tires many times, but the last time (a few weeks ago), after rotating my tires and pressing the TPMS reset button, I had no numbers displaying, just the —- after a week of driving. So after researching it, I opened techstream, saw that my IDs were in there and the sensors were reading normal, but the location said “judging“. I deflated a couple tires to find their location (techstream shows pressures), then manually assigned them to their location. I had to write the IDs down to have the numbers available when switching screens, but did not take long. After I did this, the correct pressures were displayed immediately and in the right location.
Next tire rotation, I will try the reset button again (it always worked in the past), but have a backup if needed.
If you need techstream, read this thread
(You’ll also need a cable to connect to your truck)
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ecu-tsb-update.562550/
Or bring it to the dealership and tell them to use techstream to manually place the tires in their correct position.
I don’t have pics of all the screens, but here’s a pic of the screen that shows the TPMS info/IDs.

Ya, that didn't work for anyone in this case. They had to use their computer to do it. I asked the dealership the specific question about rotating tires. Just passing along what they told me. And, as you know, the dealership service advisers are all-knowing:bowdown:

Old thread, but I might be able to give another option to try if you are configured like I am.

Last fall (2020) I upgraded wheels and tires from stock with five of each. Also had new TPMS units installed in all five wheels.

When I got the wheels and tires installed Discount Tires only programmed in the four tires on the ground and did not program the spare, so all reset just fine.

1st rotation included the spare into the rotation. Had to have Discount Tires program the spare now that it was on the ground. Drove home and tossed the soare in the garage as I didn't have a mount for it yet and was using the space to haul something that week. Shortly after I got home I adjusted the tire pressures to meet my driving style and hit the reset button. Took a little longer than I remember last time, but it reset and all the tires matched the dash display for pressure and location.

Well, just went through another five tire rotation and headed out of town to vist my folks. Reset just before leaving Discounts parking lot. Well, four days and 200 miles later the --- --- still showed for the tires on the dash screen. Took it back to Discount and the young gent spent a good half hour trying all the tricks, but nothing worked. Reset never finished and gave me a pressure display. Well, this morning I decided to drop the spare. BTW, I recently chopped the exhaust behind the axle and this allows the 255/85R16 KM3 to fit perfectly in the stock spare spot. So I left the spare im the garage and took a drive. Didn't even make it two miles and the screen finally started displaying pressure properly again. Got home and threw the spare back up under the truck and went about my day feeling complete again.

I ran into this issue the other day after putting aftermarket wheels onto my '21 OR using my stock TPMS sensors in the new wheels. I had the -- issue being displayed.

My assumption is the shop is so close to my house under (5 miles) that I didn't fully drive enough before turning off the engine. I believe the tpms system got stuck into "searching mode" & all future trips from that point on.

I then simply followed directions quoted above & reset the tpms making sure to then drive around on freeway (approx 50mph for most of trip) & sure enough once I hit just over 10 miles driven, the PSI for each tire showed up in dash.

Just thought to share my experience.
    Cheers,
    -Rich

    I know this is old……

I had discount tire replace the sensors on the FJ. They were eight years old. They charged only for dismount and mount of the tires. I bought Denso sensors from Olathe Toyota

You need a good scanner to get the tpms ID'S. Just had mine replaced yesterday and drove it like I read online and nothing. Looked at the manual and it said you need to register the new tpms ID with the vehicles computer. So if you have a good scanner it should give you the option to write the new ID's onto the computer. My scanner gave me the tpms ID'S aswell. Hope this helps anyone in the future.

The tires on my tacoma were installed 3 years ago and the sensors have worked fine until the cold temps this week. My daughters camry is the same way her tires installed around 2 years ago.
