Does anyone know if the 2006 Tacoma TPMS can be reprogrammed to ignore the spare tire's sensor?

Given the cost of the sensors and the real purpose of a spare tire, it makes no sense to replace that specific sensor.

Remember when it was the vehicle owner's responsibility to check fluids and tire pressure and condition?

I was told by a Toyo service writer that the sensor in the spare is specific to the spare tire and can't be programed out or exchanged with any other wheel on the truck. Some install it in a small airtight container, like a short piece if pipe sealed on both ends and pressurized. Then keep it somewhere in the truck. Some take it out, squeeze it in the tire jack just enough to simulate pressure needed. That's a lot of BS just for an obvious program-it-out fix, which isn't going to happen from Toyota. My '06 spare is so rusty I doubt if it's even mountable, but I have to haul it around. :annoyed:
