never use nitrogen, waste of money and time by driving somewhere to get it

Because lots of us have figured out decades ago that running 35+ psi does not compromise the contact patch, performance, ride and longevity.

Thanks for the scientific explanation. That make perfect sense.

Maybe tire manufacturers should just put on the door sill, "run them as high as you can to achieve the best mpg" lmao

You believe there was science involved in picking the door label pressure?

Funny how lots of people make all kinds of mods from stock on their truck, but OMG don't risk changing tire pressure from what the door label says.

I've run max sidewall with no adverse results including wear, which seems to be better at high pressure.

Oh no, there's no science at all in that. None. Some dipshit sits at the end of the assembly line and puts a random freakin sticker on any given truck pulled out of a fishbowl. But who am I to argue with someone who sports the title of "expert hypermiler." You've clearly done your own research on the road and you're proud of it. Go run max pressure sidewall pressures and post up those mpg numbers lol.

I do, and I'll continue to, and I'll let people know my experience.

You stick to a sticker that has more to do with comfort than science.

You run max sidewall pressures all day long, but please don't advise others her to do the same. You can heat your tires up and have a blowout if you want, but don't claim to others that just because you've had no "Ill effects" it's safe and scientific. You are clearly smarter than the engineers involved in making these decisions. Oh wait, there is no science in any of this. You win.

I don't recall all of the issue but I seem to recall Ford putting a sticker on the door sill utilizing a different pressure than Firestone recommended. After lots of blowouts, Firestone got a bad name when actually Ford recommended an improper pressure. Please note: This is only as I recall and may be inaccurate. I'm hoping Toyota and the tire manufacturers agree from testing that both have done that the posted pressure is a recommended safe pressure. Now, you may run a higher pressure and get better gas mileage or less to get a smoother ride BUT, you take a risk. I would say the further you go from the recommended, the more the risk. In this "let's sue" country mentality, suppose: as worthhywads does, you typically run a tire pressure 5ish pounds above the Mfg recommended pressure. The fancy onboard computer tracks this. You are involved in an accident maybe or maybe not tire related. Cops and insurance companies pull the data, (of which Toyota says they will allow), and ....well, now we lawyers involved and .....
I don't believe the stickers are arbitrary. I think there is some "science" in them. I also believe there are tolerances because I know that 5 tire pressure gages will read probably 3 different pressures that may vary by 5 to10%. So one person's 30psi could be another's 27 or 33psi. I also know the pressure on the instrument display will also vary from different gages. My sticker says 30psi. I go with 30 to 32psi knowing I'm somewhere in tolerance further referencing it to the instrument display. 35psi? A little high to argue gage tolerances but, that's a risk that if you're willing to take, great. I have absolutely no problems with taking risks when those risks pertain to me. But, be careful. If the risk you take can effect someone else, there's those damn lawyers again. I hate lawyers.
All of this is imho and doesn't mean js.

No kidding. I'm talking about running max tire pressures/heat/uneven tire wear being a recipe for disaster. Now you want to talk about science lol.

Max pressure lower temperature, uneven wear haven't seen it, no disaster. Been max pressure since 1988, I'd think I'd have noticed uneven wear, but I haven't. Long tire life too.

Offensive stickers and stuff the wife doesn't know about.
That's why costco is great they only use Nitro now and they always seem to have some sort of rebate on one of the big brands.

Drove around for awhile starting out at 30 cold psi. Went up only 2 psi while driving (cool and rainy). Seemed to ride smoother. Still need to figure out why dealer or Toyota had it at 35 cold when spec says otherwise.

Been running pressure stated on the door since new and at 40000 no problems to speak of.
As for nitrogen in the tires, that is what came in them, but the SM told me not to worry about it and use air when the time came.
I have a couple of tires with air in them now due to flats.
    Have not noticed no change.

    Hardcore off road floor mats!
I know a guy that works at a local (to me) community college. The college had to spend money or lose it. They bought a $10k nitrogen machine. So he puts nitrogen in his tires for now on. It's free for him...

    What a waste.

You are a disaster waiting to happen, but with a good lawyer it will be Toyotas fault. Hope you live. ;)
