Oh yea meant to say it didn't flash like that but I think after it initially turned on, it turned off for about a second then stayed on, but I'll try to remember to verify that tomorrow.

I believe they did away with the TPMS sensor in the spare tire in the 2nd gens....

After about 2009 they dropped the senors from the spare.

My 2007 has a sensor in the spare.
It no longer works, but it’s there.

I can only wish my 2007 didn't have one! When I start the truck, the TPMS light turns on for a second, off for < a second, then back on steady which may be normal as in sensing a tire that's low.

Yes, if it comes on for 3 seconds, goes off and then comes back on and stays on, it’s working normally. And it means there is a tire sensing low.

If it comes on and flashes for 30 second and then stays on. There is a system fault. Which is usually a bad sensor.

Ok got it - thanks. Maybe it was more like 3 seconds before going off. Read some of the manual last night - replacing tires will be more involved than the last time I did years ago. I believe it involves registering (not sure if that's the correct term) the new tire's sensors.

Sorry, assuming you've set the PSI on all tires and then held the TPMS re-set button to re-set the tire pressure system? Or did I miss that part? lol...

My 2007 tpms batteries died a few years back... finally! With a sensor in the spare every time the temp dropped enough it would set off the ^&!!$#% light. Now i use a $10 pressure gauge and couldn't be happier.

I was able to set the PSI on all tires except the spare - so I didn't attempt to reset the system. I assumed I shouldn't until I'm able to set the PSI in the spare, correct? It just seems so much easier to go around and check air pressures on a schedule!
That's when my 2007 TPMS light went on, last week when it got cold. I wonder with your sensors not active except the spare - you don't get the flashing light? I had assumed the 2007 system needs a signal from 5 sensors or else that would be considered a non air pressure situation, and would be considered a defect and cause the light to flash?

I'm able to see and touch the stem on the spare with it pointing up. It's cap is missing, I need to get some for that and another tire. I can't get the gauge on though. If I can get the pump hose connected I guess I could just fill it for a while, but don't want to risk putting in too much.

I wonder if there's some kind of valve extension thing, a foot or so long that as a valve at the end of it for the gauge and pump.

I can't tell if the part on the end with the lever has a gauge on it, and if that's a powered air pump. I see it's called a reverse chuck, I'll look that up.

I could get this - connect the gauge at the right end, then the air pump.

I may consider one of these. After a while I was able to get the spare tire down. I oiled the winch while the tire was out. Not to push my luck though, for now I'll store it in the bed. When I need room it'll fit behind the passenger seat. First I was concerned about the spare being too accessible with the mount, but I see you can put a lock on it.

The spare was very low. Added air to 30lbs, amazingly the TPMS light turned off. Didn't really expect that given the sensor battery is 15 years old. Also as expected it may not be good to use this spare, its a 245, what came with the truck originally. The mounted tires are 265s.

I bought a block of gym chalk for exactly this. I will dial in front and rear pressure according to a full and even contact patch mark….variables be damned.
