So, I am going to be buying a new TRD sport DC LB, when it comes in at the end of the month. I am looking to get the Black TRD rims The tires they come with look like they should be on a mini van. Here is the question I really like the look of the KO2's but am worried about loss of gas millage. Do they make an all season with an aggressive sidewall look? Or are the KO2 even that bad on MPG? I live in New England so snow and rain (mainly rain) traction is important. Also I doubt I am going to take this off road much or at all, that's why I bought a Sport. Thanks for your input.

275/70/17 k02s on 17" TRD matte black wheels, emblem black out kit, weather tech floor mats, American flag decals, tint, Toyota bed cover, bed mat.
If you take a look at my truck you can see i have that exact setup. the K02 275s are nice and everyone loves them. Downside is ive lost about 2 miles per gallon once I threw them on. So what i did was keep the original wheel setup with the wranglers and use them as my summer tire or for long drive trips. Hope this helps.

My KO2's went on in a matter of days, so I can't compare mileage. However I always get between 18-20 mpg average.
    TRD Pro 17's KO2 265/70/17

The E rated KO2s (10 ply) will hit the mpgs hard, 2-3 mpg in my experience.

Ko2 are the best tires and required for any member of the TW forum.

They are great for malls, Starbucks, rain, snow, mud, apocalypse

    Do it

Never used them in snow. I thought they were okay in rain but a lot of guys say they are not. They were no better off road than any other AT tire I've used, despite their looks.

The consensus from many posts I have read is 2 MPG-ish. That is 10%. At 12K per year, you would use 67 more gallons of fuel. 67*$3.00 is $200 per hear they will cost you. Lets say gas gets back up t $4/gal. Its $267 extra.

Some guys run 20K road miles per year, which would nearly double the extra cost. So if you drive many miles, it is going to become significant.

    Make the decision.

If you get lucky and get firestones, they are excellent in rain. I don't drive my truck in snow, if I did I would run snow tires year round as I do on my cars. BFG ATs are good in snow and in rain, but snow tires rule in rain and snow. You trade off wear, but I don't mind.

I only buy things based on looks, that being said my 315 KbrO2's have been doing pretty damn well in the rain and flooded roads we've been having. They are dead silent on the highway, granted I only have about 400 miles on them.

If you don't want too big of a milage hit, stick with the factory size and a c-rated tire. E rated tires ride harsher and are much heavier. P-Rated tires are best for fuel economy, but have weaker tread and side walls and are more prone to puncture.

KO2's all the way! Good and quiet..with a decent ride. Any tire brand you purchase that is larger and or heavier will most likely impact your MPG to some degree. So don't think it's a disease limited to the KO2"s
