Tire question

    Posted this in Wheels and Tires section but 89 people viewed the post but didnt respond so I'm asking here. I will be getting the full OME kit from wheelers with 883 coils. 3" of lift. Would I have any issues with a 285/75/16 tire? Its not set in stone that I will be getting that tire size, just a thought if my wheels look too small with the lift. Otherwise, I will be sticking with my 265/70/16's. Thanks in advance!

    Bilstein 5100's, Toytec front adjustable coilover kit, Exporear leafs, Fox resi rears, Slotted & Drilled front rotors, 33x12.50 BFG ATs on Outlaw II 15 x 10s, Bushwacker cutout flares, K&N cold air intake with aluminum sheathing water baffles, ARB bumper with XD9000 winch with wireless remote, IPF 900XS lights, Flowmaster cat-back exhaust, Rhino bed liner, UWS gullwing toolbox with tools and recovery gear. 48" Hi-Lift Jack secured under toolbox.
    Your new tires would be just a little smaller than 33 x 12.50s that I have.
    No issues for the rear tires.
    For the front, slight trimming of the plastic portion of the bumper at the front corner where the flat bottom meets the curve may be necessary (pretty easy).
    You may also need to hammer down the pinch welds in the back section of the wheel well...also pretty easy.
    This would be your worst case scenario...I would say go with it, those tires will look nice with that lift.

    Would wheel spacers help at all? I' hate to start cutting up my truck lol

    I thought 285/75/16s should be almost equal to a 33/11.5 its the 305/70/16 thats equal to a 33/12.5. I run the 305s and they rub a little and i had to trim some stuff too. Now i believe you wont rub on frame like i do since narrower but you might still rub in plastic part of bumper and pinch weld. A lot of people run the 285s and like them!

    With the spacers you may just hit on another part of the tire.
    Where you will rub will be at almost full turn when the springs are compressed as in going down a steep driveway onto the street. I had to trim a little with my tires and heavy bumper, but with smaller tires and a stock bumper, you should be fine.
    Not really "cutting" the truck...just a little fine tuning ;)

    I agree. I trimmed just the corner of the plastic part of bumper and did the pitch eld mod. I rub on fram only when backing up and turned all the way. if you do the trimming right you wont even tell it wasnt stock. I dodnt even remember what the cornors looked like before i cut them haha
