I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma Regular Cab no mods at all. The current tires in have on the truck are 235/75/R15....Id like a beefier look without a lift. I found some tires and rims I like that are
285/75/16 that came off a 07 Silverado. Will those work without any mods? Or will they rub? If that will not work what’s the biggest I can go staying stock?

    1. The search bar is your friend. I've only been on TW for a year and seen this question answered many times.

    2. The more info you give us about your truck, the better.

    3. To actually answer your question: Based on the tire size you posted, I'm assuming you have a 2wd without the offroad package. So no. 285s will not fot without some serious mods. I had to lift my truck 2.5" to fit 285s and i still rub sometimes. Just FYI, a 285/75/16 is basically a 33 x 11.5

Not even close. You would be going from a 30" tire to a 33" tire. Not to mention the offset on the GM rims.

Ok so most likely a 31-10-50 is the biggest without lift?

    A 4x4 doesn't come stock with 235/75/15s. Should be 265/70/16s....

31x10.5x 15 are a stock up grade from the factory. That is what I currently have on my 1998 4x4. Toyota later moved to the 265/75/16 as there stock tire which is technically the same as the 31x10.5x15

Wow, someone put some little ones on there lol. I think you can fit 265/75/16s pretty will with minor rubbing and no lift/mods

But if you're planning on wheeling her, a 3" lift and 285s or 33x12.5s will change your life

I didn't know they ever came with a 265/75 from the factory. Mine came with 265/70/16 BFG "rugged trails I think was the name".

I think that’s what he meant... 265/70/16 was factory size, and some got 265/75/15’s.

Yep 265/70/16 is what I meant. 265/75/16 is a somewhat common upgrade size without lifting the truck.

Are you staying with 15" rims? If upgrading to 16" rims 265/75/16 is as big as you can go with no mods. But depending on the engine/axle ratio etc. you might not want to go any bigger than 245/75/16 or 265/70/16.

    The 235/75/15's are a 29" tire. 265/70/16 or 245/75/16 is a 30.5" tire. The 265's are about 1" wider, but same height. 265/75/16's are a 31.5" tire.

If you're staying with 15" rims you want a 30X9.50R15 or 31X1.50R15" tire. Same overall size as 245/75/16 or 265/75/16.

Same overall sizes as a 265/70/16. Just to many numbers;)

"stock" tire size for the 4x4 was a 225/75-15 for every model with smaller gearing. "most" dealers opted for the larger wheel/tire combo with larger gearing as this was more appealing. Reg cabs were notorious for coming with the 15" steel wheels and no flares. most of what you buy is dealer requested options to help sell the truck. :)

I was under the impression that stock 4x4 tire size was 265/70/16.

that's what most of the 01-04 model came with due to dealers requesting the packages. the 15" were more of a "base-no-frills" model. not very popular but they do exist

Finding aftermarket 15" wheels to fit anything after 2000 is kinda a bitch but there is some out there u just gonna look.

also, I missed this the first read. Those 07 Chevy rims will not fit over the Toyota hub, GM uses a ~78.1mm center and Toyota uses ~106.25mm so you would need to grind/turn out the centers on a machine to match the size
