This for sure, booth my cooper AT3's and Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10's did exactly this.... utter crappy tires both of them.

I haven't run any of the Nitto truck/suv tires, but I've got a set of Nitto NT555 G2's on my Camaro and have been very happy with them. I've test driven a newer Tacoma on 285/70/17 Toyo Open Country AT3's and a cheap spacer lift and I was very impressed with how quiet and smooth they were. I have run several sets of Michelin LTX's and they were awesome for on road performance, but they always dry rotted and cracked out before I could get the full mileage from them. I was told it's due to their soft rubber compound, but I suppose that's the trade off for their smooth ride. I've still got the factory Goodyears on my Tacoma and after 13k miles I don't have any complaints about them either.

With that said I'm still going with Toyo Open Country AT3's or Yokohama Geolander G003 MT's for my next set.

One more thought to mention. Check also the weight of the tires. They are very different. I know the wildpeaks are heavy compared to the nittos. This will effect your mpgs . I did alot of reading before buying the ones I chose. I really wanted a aggressive looking side wall but decent road tire and something that wasn’t 45+ pounds each. If I remember correctly the nittos came in at 38lb each

I had a set of 35 12.50 17 Nitto Trail Grapplers on my diesel build years ago. Zero issues, did well on pavement and in rain and were aggressive off road. 100% would buy again. I'm going with an AT and have settled on BFG KO2s since that is what my trailer came with.

I have run the Michelin LTX before and also wanted something slightly more offroad-capable without giving up too much street handling characteristics or adding a ton of weight and rolling resistance. I went with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3s and have been satisfied with them.

I put a set of Atturo Trailblade XT's on my Taco a couple of years ago just to test them out and love these tires so much that I also put a set on my Rubicon. Smooth on the highway, easy to balance and excellent on the trail.

I have run Terra Grapplers on my stock Tacoma for a few years now. I will be your source for a glowing review. It is an excellent tire. I used to run Cooper AT3's. I get 3-4 times the life in the Nittos and they stay smooth and quiet until they are bald.

I'm about to start my build and I'll be switching to the Ridge Grappler 33". I'm sure they won't run as smooth as the Terra Grapplers but I want something a little more aggressive.

In the end, I got the Michelin LTX FORCE. Maybe not with the tough looks, yet it's nice and with the expected functionality I need. With the positive experience I have had with Michelin on softness and grip, in my truck and my multipurpose bike, I will stick with it for a while.
