I need to pick out new tires by tomorrow, truck is in the shop for brake stuff and the tires are worn past roadworthy.

Currently have Maxxis Razr AT-811 stock size 265/70/16 tires on my 2nd Gen. Liked these for the weight and lack of noise but they wore poorly. They were installed exactly three years ago and lasted about 30k.

I’m open to any AT either at stock size or possibly 265/75/16. I do light off-roading, mostly beach and light trail driving, and need good tires at the ramp for hauling a heavy boat.

I have a two inch suspension lift, so the thought on 265/75/16 is partially aesthetic, to fill the void.

Appreciate recommendations on the tire and also tire size.

Honestly all tires these days are pretty good everyone will have varying opinions. Choose one you like and see how you like it.
I'm partial to yokohama G017 or duratracs or toyo at3's

So the BFG’s get hit for poor wet pavement handling, and the Grabbers get hit for serious balancing issues. Trying to find something without a serious flaw…

This is what I decided on. No good reason to go LT when I just tow a boat from time to time, correct?

Still all opinions, I personally don't know anyone that has had issues with grabbers. It's basically a giant circle jerk on here for the k02 that has 0 issues....so they say but I have my opinions there.
I was reading a comments earlier about at3's having 0 traction after 15k and treadwear was bad. Does that mean thar tire has a serious flaw? No, you can't blanket statement everything based on some opinions online.

Grabbers have balancing issues? News to me, I love my Grabbers. They replaced KO2s and are superior in my opinion in every way except the KO2 are thicker and heavier. Would run them again gladly.

Looks like you already picked the Toyos, those are a great choice as well. As others have said it’s hard to go wrong sticking with the popular options that get mentioned here often.

On one of the major tire sites I was reading reviews of the grabbers, there were 34 one star reviews and every last one was about balancing. That’s a lot of reviews about a very specific issue. But of course there were a few hundred people who didn’t have that issue. I just really, really don’t need to go through a balancing problem where I have to take the truck back to the shop, wait, etc, try again. Some of these people went through like ten tires and multiple visits. Sounds like quality control issue at the plant with out of round.

The complaint that KO2s have wet pavement traction issues is on a bunch of other forums.

Interesting. I haven’t had any balancing issues with the Grabbers either. I have had the tires road force balanced a couple times since I drive off road a decent amount of stuff gets bounced out of alignment. They are still smooth as butter.

I’m actually between the Razr AT 811 and the Grabber again for my next set. Did you run the E rated Maxxis and still only got 30K out of them?

Here are the specs on the exact part number I got:

    https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/maxxis-265-70r16-tire-razr-at-tp00251600/_/R-DLDG-TP00251600

My neighbor got his around the same time and had the exact same experience I had.

So unfortunately that’s a Toyota deal only. I have an independent shop doing the work.

Went with Toyo AT3 SL all black.

I think you will like those that’s what I run on the 4Runner and I’ll be putting them on the wife’s Tacoma when the time comes.
