Also posted in the tire and wheel forum. Posting here as well for more traffic.

I need to pick out new tires by tomorrow, truck is in the shop for brake stuff and the tires are worn past roadworthy.

Currently have Maxxis Razr AT-811 stock size 265/70/16 tires on my 2nd Gen. Liked these for the weight and lack of noise but they wore poorly. They were installed exactly three years ago and lasted about 30k.

I’m open to any AT either at stock size or possibly 265/75/16. I do light off-roading, mostly beach and light trail driving, and need good tires at the ramp for hauling a heavy boat.

I have a two inch suspension lift, so the thought on 265/75/16 is partially aesthetic, to fill the void.

Appreciate recommendations on the tire and also tire size.

I’ve been running LT265/75/16 General Grabber ATXs for about 50K miles now. They have been an absolutely fantastic tire. Only reason I might get something different next is just to mix it up. They’re at about half tread life (keep in mind these are E rated). I think if I wanted to do it for science, I could probably get close to 100k miles out of these. The tread life is unbelievable and they are 3PMS rated.

As you can see, they are quite “grabby” :rimshot:

I have used BFG KO2 on several vehicles through the years and my 97D90 still has BFG KO on it (it does not get driven much and they will age out before they wear out). I've had great luck with them. I just put a new set on my 2004 Tacoma DC 4x4. My FJ40 has Falken Wildpeaks and they are, in my opinion, much louder than the BFGs. If you want more of a highway tire, Michelin Defenders are great.

I’ve never had KO2’s but keep in mind that pretty much everyone agrees that their wet pavement traction is terrible, if you live in a climate with a lot of rain.

I put on Falken at4ws a few thousand ago. Liking them so far, way less noise than my old duratracs.

Oh also, the Toyo RT Trails seem to be getting really good reviews so far.

Ahhh the Kendas. Another solid choice. If only they made a LT285/75/16 :pout:

How many inches of lift do I need with 35s for no rub? Not willing to cut.

Really appreciate all the recommendations. Probably going with the Grabbers, but looking into the Toyos as well.

I recently got Hankook Dynapro AT2 Extremes on my '15 Taco. I'm on a stock size 245/75/16, these tires did really well in the snow over the winter. Wet traction has been good in the rain. They're pretty quiet, balanced well and ride pretty smoothly.

Just upped with a new set of Yokohama Geolandar GO15s, in a P265/70/R16 size. 500 miles on them so far & fully satisfied. M+S & 3-peak rated.

These Yokos are more of a road-oriented tire, run quiet on the highway. Very good heavy-rain performance at high speed. I usually cruise at 60-65mph but even at 80-85 they clear standing water on the highway without issue. They also have fine dry/damp dirt road traction, though obviously not enough big knobby deep tread for soft dirt or mud.

Previously I was on stock BF Goodrich "Rugged Trail" ATs of same size.

IMO 265/75/16 is a good size. They are a bit larger than stock, but not large enough to have any real downsides. Cost is reasonable too. They are usually available in a standard load tire or LT rated if you want. I think they still look good with s 2-3" lift. Any bigger and you create a domino effect of having to do other mods to the truck. Which brand and model is personal.

    My 07 with 265/75/16 GoodYear's and 3" lift.
