I’ve done a lot of rotations on lots of customer cars both front to back and cc. I personally have never found one to be better or worse then the other and have never seen a problem caused by using one or the other methods. Sometimes you dudes argue points on paper that really make 0 difference in real world use.

As long as the same pattern is used every time, then is doesn't matter. The idea is to rotate them to even out wear from the steering axle to the rear axle and make the tires last longer.

Yes. That typically will be an extra charge.
In almost 200k of driving my last Tacoma, I used the spare tire once for about a day until I could make it to the tire shop for a replacement. A day or so of minimal use won’t damage anything.

For me, Im not spending any money on my spare as its meant to be a temporary band aid.

Every year or so I lower and raise it to keep the mechanism from rusting which makes it difficult to access when needed. As well as checking the pressure.

I'd only do 5 wheel rotation on 4Runner because 4Runner can save and display spare tire sensor reading no need to reprogram each time

dont jack with switching the spare and TPSM around ......cost you more $ and risk of damaging a sensor or tire when your breaking them down(meaning tire jockeys)........and I'm pretty sure the Toyota engineers know more about synthetic oil and engines than anybody on this forum

It is a full size spare on a steel wheel. Not a donut.

I bought another matching rim and full size spare to match my other 4 wheels. I do the rearward cross. Discount Tire did some of my rotations for me and they reprogrammed the TPMS for free when I used them. I now do the rotation myself and don't worry about the TPMS. I check my tire pressures every 2 weeks and fill up with my OBA if needed.

Rotation is easy, we lived without TPMS before, I want a full size spare for when I'm out on the trails and need a matching spare.

If I'm not mistaken, in SR5 you can see the live individual tire pressure in the gauge cluster, it's very accurate and sampling rate is adequate. Not really needed to check pressure yourself

If I do the rotation myself and don't have the TPMS updated in the system I'm getting a readout for the spare so I only see 3 live tires. I have a morrflate so hooking it up and inflating all 4 tires to the same spec takes about 5-10 minutes.

that's why I come to TW, to learn about cool stuff that I never heard of but can immensely improve my ownership experience (and protect my lower back from bending over 4 times to inflate tires).
I'll research on morrflate system, thanks

It's a game changer. Super easy to air down all 4 and re-inflate them as well. I have the ARB dual compressor installed in my engine bay and use the morrflate (https://morrflate.com/shop/morrflate-multi-tire-air-kits/morrflate-quad-4-tire-air-kit/)

There's a thread in TW where guys have laid out how to make your own as well.

I don’t recall the tire being a donut. Just that the wheel itself had a speed limitation warning.

That is bunk. My 2016 Sport, 2020 Sport and my uncles 2021 Sport all came with full size.

Perhaps due to age and degradation of the tire? Likely just due to the liability if I were to guess.
