Tire Rotation

    Now that I'm over the reluctance to perform my own front disc brake change (thanks to TW), I'm interested in doing my own tire rotation. Considering the order in which the tires need to be rotated, it seems I'll need two pairs of jack stands. Can someone help walk me through the process?

    Do you jack up the front (or rear), place two stands underneath, and then jack up the opposite end and place two stands underneath, and rotate the tires?

    I input tire rotation and rotate tires in the search function and received more threads about tires than I possibly have time to read. Thanks in advance!

    I jack up the rear and place two stands under the axles and then jack up the front one side at a time under the A arm. It's tough to get the front high enough that the tires don't touch when the suspension droops. There is a central jack point in the front but needs to go pretty high to get the tires up.

    If you look under the front of the truck, youll see a rounded metal piece sticking down. This is a jack point that is balanced and will raise both sides of the truck. Once raised to height, place jacks under the frame on both sides.

    For the rear, you can lift on the rear diff. I usually use a piece of plywood between the jack and the diff to prevent any dents. Once lifted, place jacks under the axle housing on both sides.

    This is how i do it. One set of jack stands (wheel chocks on the front wheel im not jacking up) and then i can perform the standard backs to fronts, and cross the fronts to the back rotation

    2 floor jacks. Do one side at a time. One jack just behind the front wheel; the other just ahead of the rear wheel, both placed at the factory provided jacking points. Loosen lugs before lifting. I find it can help to place a small block of wood on top of the jack pad on each jack. Keeps things from getting torn up by the jack.

    On the 2wd I like to rotate H pattern. The wheels with power go straight up or back depending whether you have front drive or rear drive, then non powered wheels go front or back but on opposite side.
