Tire shine Etching in sidewall?!

After cleaning my truck yesterday I decided to throw on some spray-on tire shine. After taking a look at the instructions, I sprayed on a coat and let it sit for 5 mins. After I went to go wipe off the access on the rims I noticed anywhere it dripped it left a drip mark that can be seen and felt on the sidewall. I know you get what you pay for but would never expect tired dressing to leave physical markings on the tire even after it's wiped away?! Has anyone ever experienced anything like this or have any thoughts?

 

Those tires are old and wrinkled.
Better get some new tires.

That's not etching. It's the product running while wet, then drying in place.

 

What is the purpose of shiny tires?????

 

Try cleaning it with something like bleach-white And see if it removes it.. looks like runs to me.

 

If you let it dry, it'll dry how you sprayed it on. When it's wet, give it a once-over with a wrag to smooth the dressing evenly, then it'll dry with a smooth and even coating on your tires. Use a wrag that you're going to dispose of afterwards since this stuff will not come out in the washer

 

I stopped using the stuff after it turned my sidewalls into a gooey gummy mess, pretty much destroyed an expensive set of tires.

Never heard of a wrag so I googled it. Sounds dangerous using gang colors to clean tires.

 

That stuff is crap and will eat holes in your tires.

 

It’s silicone per the SDS. It’s not going to eat a hole in the tire.
