Turtle Wax's Wet N Black is what I use. It's silicone based, but I haven't had any issues with dirt sticking to it. It also lasts a few weeks too!

i stopped using tire shine because i read that it is bad for your tires. it breaks down the rubber with the solvents.

I sold my BMW X5 because I was tired of having it looking all nice and clean and pimp looking. With the Tacoma, it’s ok to be dirty and have my tires looking brown.

Ghay? Some view their trucks for functionality other for personality. I myself own 2 trucks, one for functionality the other for personality. I imagine those who only have one truck use both for their purpose. Nothing wrong with using your truck as a truck (like you)and also taking the time to make it look Cherry, (like this thread) $.02

Joy soap is an old school way of making tires shine great. I have used it in the past and it works great. I prefer Meguires Hot Shine in a spreay can, no sling and a slight wipe down with a nice soft brush does the trick.

um no..you can’t use semantics and twisted logic to convince me that tire shine on a truck looks good. It screams mall crawler and looks utterly ridiculous! $.02

that’s called just logic, not twisted logic.
I hope you are trolling because it’s folks today that are not bright enough to understand the difference that are causing all the problems.

    I'm curious why as well.
Tires come shiny from the factory because of the silicone mold release, tire shine products are mainly just more of the same.

That said I don't use it often as it turns brown when exposed to UV for a time.

Better question is what are people using to get mud stains off of tires?

They're shiny from the factory cuz they're new. Haha.

But nah, I used to tire shine that was silicone based all the time. It was normally what I could find at Walmart. Dont get me wrong, if you like a wet tire look, silicone based solvents will do exactly that. But through the years, I've read that silicone solvents do wear on the rubber (is there truth to this? no clue, but it was more reasonable for me to get away from silicone) and I hated cleaning those silicone gels off the tire. But mostly, as I got more into detailing, I just didn't like the wet tire look. I proffered a more natural rubber look and 303 did exactly that.

I normally use mothers wheel and tire cleaner and finish it off with 303. Tires will look like they did when you first bought them.

So I guess its just preference.

way too much over spray on the rim. Angle and spray from the rim edge out. Take a cloth and then spread it close to the rim if you want it to look professional.

I am not a fan of tire shines because I find that once you apply it you have to continue to do so for the life of the tire or it starts to have a faded brown appearance. Here is what I use instead - Aero Cosmetics Rubber Care. This stuff is awesome. It makes tires look brand new without any shine or sticky residue. I normally clean the tire with soap and water beforehand, spray it on, let it soak in for 30-40 minutes, and then wipe the tire with a damp rag. It works on other types of rubber as well, including window and door trim.
