Hey guys, wondering if anyone knows the max tire size I can run on a 2nd gen Tacoma with stock suspension and have zero rub. Currently equipped with 265 70 16 but I was wondering if I could get up to a 285 75 17. Thanks for any info!

265/75/16 will be about 1" taller, same width. With most trucks those will clear with no modifications and IMO is a good size. They look good stock, or with a mild lift and you don't have to invest in another set of wheels. Any loss of performance is minimal. You don't gain anything going to 17" wheels. You can achieve the same overall tire dimensions by staying with 16" wheels.

A 285/75/16 is about 2" taller and about 1" wider. You'll probably have to modify the truck, the tires cost a lot more and you'll lose a lot of power unless you regear. You'll wear out suspension and drivetrain parts a lot sooner too.

Some guys like 255/85/16's. They are a true 33" tire, only about 1/2" taller than 265/75/16's, but are only available in a more expensive E rating. They are a skinny tire if that matters. Personally I kinda like a narrower tire, but those just aren't worth the money to me.

265/75/16's on my truck with stock suspension.

    Same tires, mild lift.
