What other size tires can I use because mine calls for a 205/75R15 96? Are is this the only size that will work? Thanks

Why do you need a bigger tire? IE what is inadequate about what you have?

I am not looking for a bigger tire its the fact that I have called over 10 used tire places and everyone of them says that is not a common tire and none of them have any. I am definitely not interested in anything about jacking the truck up. I just need to see if anyother tire will work. There are probably 40 different sizes from what I have viewed. I am assuming that the 205 is the width, the 75 is the height and the 15 is the rim size. So, basically my question is will for instance a 205/60R15, 215/75R15 or anything else by chance fit the rim?

Is there a sticker in the door jamb that gives the original size? Rule of thumb would say that +1 or +2 sizes from that will likely work. But no guarantees.

You are correct in your assessment of the numbers, mostly. The 75 is the aspect ratio. IE the % of the width that is the sidewall ht.

Have you poked around on places like Tire Rack.com?

Size that will fit is a function of the wheel width and the clearance needed when turning, going over bumps, etc.

Used tire places can be a problem. This is because they often deal in tires that are take offs from new vehicles, and it's true that not too many new vehicles come with 15" wheels anymore. But in new tires, 15" are not a problem.

tires are measured as an aspect ration. the 1st set of numbers is the width in millimeters. the second set is the sidewall height in a percentage of the width. your 205/75R15 tires measure 27.1" high and 8.1" wide. sizes close to that are 225/70r15 and 215/75r15

they are within 3/4" of the original size so they should yes. Ive heard of people putting 235-75-15s (29" tire) on but im not sure if that reqiured trimming soo..

One more question. Will a 205/70R15 work? If so how much shorter is it going to make the tire?

Use this for all your comparisons.

Any changes from OE sizing will have an effective change in the gearing and the speedo/odo readings. This calculator will show how much.
