I have a 2.5-3in spacer lift on my truck (will be upgrading soon) and am running 31x10.5x15 tires. My question is, I am wondering how much bigger tire can I go with without running into to many problems. Trimming plastic a little on fenders is no big deal. Can I run 32 or 33in tires and how much width? 11.5-12.5? Also I don’t know if my wheels have any backspacing I’m not sure how to tell. But would wheel spacers help with the bigger tires or do I even need them? Thanks

Biggest you can go without rubbing will be 265/75/16 (32"). With a little trimming, you could fit either 255/85/16 or 285/75/16. A 32/11.5 or a 33/12.5 will likely require more trimming because they are wider and they may rub on the frame/uca's (same applies to the 285's).

Frame/uca rubbing can be corrected either with wheel spacers or wheels with less backspacing, but that may cause you to do more trimming elsewhere.

That depends on how much cutting and hammering you want to do. There’s a guy rolling 35’s at stock height (not stock suspension, tho).

I would try and decide on a tire you want, then search around and see what people are doing to get that tire to fit to get an idea what you’d need to do.

Also, consider why you want the bigger tires (i.e. looks or performance) and what type of terrain you will be traveling on. The 255/85’s are great tires not just because they require less trimming, but perform better in most terrains except deep mud or snow (there are threads dedicared to them, so do some reading). They are referred to as pizza cutters.

Thank you, the biggest I’m looking to fit would be 33x12.5x15 but considering the 10.5 or 11.5 depending what will have the least amount of trimming. 32x10.5 or 11.5 would be fine too

I ran 32x11.5r15 tires with 3.75” backspacing on probably close to 3” lift with no issues as expected. Bumped up to 33x12.5 with same 3.75” backspacing and no major rubbing. I get a slight rub by the pinch weld in the front but that’s easy to fix. Other than that it’s fine. From what I remember 3.75” is the largest backspacing you can go with (without spacers) and not have issues with 12.5” wide tires. If I remember right This is why I picked 3.75” backspacing after doing my research. I wanted to not have rubbing issues but not have the tires stick out too far and not have to run spacers.

Also I should note I’m in a very flat area and don’t flex the truck much.

Thanks! After your guys information and looking into it for now I think I might run the 32x11.5x15. Has anybody tried the 33x10.5x15?

33/10.5/15 will be just about the same size as 255/85/16, just as a reference for research. There are a few threads on 255/85/16’s on here.

Yes I found them and am now really leaning towards the 33x10.5. Really like how they look and perform from reading the threads. How are they with rubbing on a 2-3in lift? My backspacing is about 4in-4.25 could not get an exact measurement just did a quick look. Will I need wheel spacers before I get the tires on or can I get by without?

With 4.25in backspacing trying to fit 33x10.5x15 tires will I need a wheel spacer or will I be good, and if so what size?

I'd go with 265/75r16 because you'll get better gas mileage & avoid rubbing. I have 285s & while they look great it's annoying hearing it eat the fender every time I back up or hit a low spot.

I’m not looking to get new wheels tho so I’m wondering about the setup that I already have. I’m just wondering now if the 33x10.5x15 will work okay on my truck with 4-4.25in backspacing or will I need spacers?

I'm currently running 275/70/18 which is a 33x11x18 tire. I had to do minor trimming and only time I scrub is with the frame at full lock. Also I'm on a 3" suspension lift.
