I have a single Dakar leaf and 5100’s on mine, they ride very well and I like how the rear behaves with towing weight and empty, too.

    BUT - we digress. :spy:

255/85/16 is a great size, and should fit 3rd gen Tacoma TRD OR w/o a lift.

265/75-16 KO2 here... great tire, E rated, super strong.. only lost about 1mpg. I’ve driven in soft sand, deep snow, wet pavement, etc etc etc and it’s the best all around tire out right now.

I've got goodyear wrangler duratracs factory size I think... came with my OR instead of the shitty Toyota ones. So far fairly good in heavy rain, good traction in mud, doesn't snow here so no input on that.

I went with 265/75/16 BFG, K02's and think they are a good overall size for on and off road, for me. I don't want to do a lift, but want additional ground clearance with a 1 inch taller tire over stock.New tires 004.jpg

And for the record, the factory Goodyear’s on the OR are awesome. They aren’t shitty at all.. I’ve used them in many different types of terrain and was very surprised. I only switched cuz I wanted something more aggressive

Are E rated tires really necessary on the Taco. The highest payload rating is only 1600lbs for a SR/5 4cyl 2WD, max towing is only 3500lbs on those trucks. V6 2WD are around 1500lbs of payload and 4WD are only 1000-1100lbs.

The reason I say P rated is from experience on my 03 running D ply ko's.Took a hit on mpg and definitely ride comfort.

A guy at my work has over 82,000 miles on his 2016 off road with the stock goodyear tires and they still have a little more life in them. He does alot of freeway driving.

I really wished they offered those in a C load so I could've used my stock TRD pro wheels. I moved up to the 4runner pro 17's so I could run C load.

OK so for winter tires IM down to the Arctic claw which i can get for $746
Dunlop winter max for $918, Hankook's for $940, or Bridgestone blizacks DMV-2 for $1000

    Thoughts?

just by googling they all have great reviews.

The artic claw is quite a bit cheaper but still has outstanding reviews.
I think any of them on a 4wd truck is going to take you anywhere you need to go in the snow

I have the Blizzak DM-V2's and they are awesome (we just got dumped on here in NW Montana and they are stellar!).

I've had Blizzaks, Michilen X-ice, Dunlop Winter SPs on a Subaru Outback in the past and the Blizzaks are by far the best.

Here is a great review and comparison of them.
    http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2016/03/winter-tire-test-some-treads-are-better-than-others.html

What surprised me about the DM-V2's is that they beat the Goodyear Ultra Grip WRT LT (studded winter compound) in every test on the same vehicle, on the same course, on the same day!

Oh yeah... that article has a pic of a Taco (with DMV2's) pulling the F-150 out of the bank! Love it. :)

Ya I'd say the blizzaks are my top choice. The winter claws seem the be best bang for your buck.
In the spring I want nice all terrains with new rims which that's guna cost $$. So maybe I save some dough here. Any ideas how much better the blizzaks are?
