tire size

hey guys i am wanting to get 32"s on my truck rims are 17's. but am having a hard time knowing which ones are that size. would 265/75/17 be 32" i want to keep with 255/__/17 or 265/__/17 thanks for the look

 

A 255/75/17 is basically 32.2" and a 265/70/17 is a little under 32".

 

TIRE SIZE CONVERSION for 265/65-17
Width 265 mm times profile (sidewall height) .65 times 2 = 344.5 mm. Divide by 25.4 mm= 13.56". Add wheel 17". Total diameter = 30.56". Width 265 mm divided by 25.4 mm = 10.43" section width. That is not tread width. That will be roughly between 7.5 and 8.2 inches depending on tire. My stock Toyo's are this size and have 8" tread width. The popular 265/70-17 KO2 tires measure 31.6" diameter x 10.43" wide with 8.75" tread width. You can play with different profiles and widths to get the exact size you want. Different brand tires the same size vary in diameter and tread width. Also pay attention to tire weight and load weight ratings. Stay over 2300 lbs. My stock tires are 36 lbs. The KO2's are between 46 and 52 lbs depending on load rating C or E. Do not know and cannot find stock TRD Sport 17" bare wheel weight. Would like that weight info to help decide on new wheel and tire combination for my truck.
