I have a 22 TSS Off Road version. it came with 17-inch grapplers. Could I install 19-to 20-inch tires without having to make any modifications, such as lifting? If I had a flat and I had 20-inch tires on, and I put the stock spare on and drove with 3 20 tires, and the one spare stock size, would I cause any damage to the truck or the other tires provided if I drive slowly less then 5MPH, and not more than 30 miles on uneven or even ground? Or would the truck be too unbalanced?

And if I were to buy 20-inch tires, could I fit a 20-inch tire where the stock spare is at now, under the truck?

The 17" refers to the diameter of the wheel.
The actual tire's diameter is derived from the XXX/XX-17 size.

Do a lot of google searches on tire sizes and what they mean. It sounds like you are rather new to the world of tire and wheel parameters and buying new wheels and tires can be a very costly mistake if you don't understand what you are trying to achieve. Also, search on here as there are thousands of useful tire size threads you can learn from.

Check out this website. Their tool allows you to compare various tire sizes And to answer your original question, wheel size doesn't matter for the spare but the tire size should be pretty close to whatever the other 4 are.

Your right, I am very new, not just with tires but with vehicles. I am the guy who has a lot of trouble installing windshield wipers. So trust me, I would not do any of these things on my own, as you say, I do not want to cause a good investment in buying a Tacoma only to have it go south.
