    How old are the tires?

    Miles don’t matter, age matters.

I personally will not run tires longer than 5 years, most tire manufacturers recommend replacement by 8 years, and most tire shops will not touch tires 10+ years old for liability reasons. Its putting you and their staff at risk.

UV rays are probably the most damaging things to tires. Its important to keep tires clean and a UV protective product on then to prevent them from dehydrating and cracking.

I’d replace if you live in an area with cold winters and snow.

I'd replace. 63K is a good run. Piece of mind may allow you to sleep better at night. Like others have said. Age is very important with tires.

    Age + 630000 miles + cracking +tread= Replace
You should be happy with the life you got with those tires.
I think if you put new tires on you will notice a much better ride and handling truck.

Replace - It's not like your going to avoid buying new tires. Your tires don't owe you anything and replacing them now is a LOT cheaper than brain surgery (or body work).......

Seems to me to be cheaper to replace four tires now than an entire truck after an accident.

I like to run my tires to nothing, but I put on 15-20K miles per year. It's time for you to replace those. Are they going to explode tomorrow? Unlikely. Sure, you could probably get another year out of them without issue. Probably.

People have gotten to the point where they expect half a million miles out of our vehicles without issue. They want any issues that do arise to be covered under warranty. I'm not saying you;re that guy, but we all expect more as quality improves. Tires are a wear item and the absolute #1 safety feature on any vehicle.

The cracks themselves aren't a sign of imminent failure, but it's definitely time to replace. I'm more surprised that you got that kind of mileage out of the Dynapros. We've had five separate flats in 22,000 miles on the set that came from the factory on our Frontier Pro-4X. All caused by the paper-thin tread patch not standing up to desert terrain.

The last 1/4" of tread wears off three times as fast as the first 1/4" of tread. So, your looking at 3000-4000 miles of tread left with degraded performance and a much better chance of a failure. Replace and be glad you did, beats the hell out of the other way around.

I’m no tire expert and trying to do some research on how soon my tires need replaced. I’ve been to several shops and they all give me different answers. One said they need to be replaced like a year ago and another said I have probably another year left. They are Toyo Open Country AT2. Mamufactired and put on in 2013. Fast forward to current date they have 41k miles on them and there are cracks in between the treads. The pass the Lincoln penny test for now. Thoughts? F8CD585B-437A-48EF-95FA-8577E5C52BDF.jpg

I’m most definitely not trying to cheap out on safety. But when I’m getting multiple responses from shops I thought I’d turn to the knowledge on the TW forums. The shop responses were: that’s typical tire wear but plenty of tread life left run it, or those are defected tires you need new ones, or yeah those are cheap tired that’s what happens should have bought such n such brand, or those are going to disentigrate any second.

Replace tires every 5 years regardless of wear.

The rubber degrades and dehydrates over time

And you still have to buy another set of tires.

How does that UV protective product stop the cracking between the treads? All that stuff you use on tires are great for looks but do nothing to extend the life of the tires.

No they don’t they just help them look nice. They do help the fading of the black rubber but only the high quality products. The silicone shit in like Armor All and Turtle wax hurt your rubbers.

Rubber breaks down over time and tires hold 35ish PSI with a 2,500lb vehicle sitting on them 24/7. Its more than just protection from the sun that will prevent degridation of the rubber.

Sunlight breaks down the rubber. A tire in Michigan will last a lot longer than one in Florida. A vehicle stored in a garage will keep the tires safe longer than one left outside all the time. The 5-8 year recommendation is just a SWAG. The tires could be bad after 3 years or still good after 10 depending on where they are.

I wouldn't trust those tires. It's not one thing, but a combination of factors. At 63,000 miles you got your money's worth. I might not run to the tire store tomorrow, but would buy new tires soon.

You are wrong Connor, using a UV protective product isn't important nor will it prevent them from cracking and dehydrating between the treads, so you are WRONG on both.

Came across this thread when researching the cracks on my own Dynapro ATMs. Thought I would share my experience to anyone else who is looking into this. As you can see, the cracks in mine appear severe, Discount Tire wouldn't even rotate em, just told me I need new ones. However, I got 75,000 miles on these (in 4.5 years after manufacture date). My brother had the same tires on his Tacoma and got 70k miles out of them. For tires rated for 50k miles, I'm happy with how they performed, especially in the Arizona sun and heat. Trying the Nitto Ridge Grapplers next.

As the saying goes. "Tires are the only contact that you have with the road".

How important are those contact points to you?
    They could mean your life

Don't forget to inspect and replace your spare tire once in a while as well.
