Sorry if this is been beaten to death. But I cannot find a definitive answer. I’m in need of replacing my tires on my 12 trd sport. Looking for something that looks more all terrain. I don’t drive off road really. I want something that will def last. And any issues going up to 265/70/17? Everything stock. I don’t haul much. Just occasional trailer with quads. I was looking at falken wild peaks, nitro grappler g2 or Toyo open country. p metric last longer? Thanks!

I got a great deal on k02’s on Black Friday last year. Quiet on the road, look semi-aggressive, I dig them so far.

I like the Falken WP alot. Several friends run them and have zero complaints and plenty of compliments for a daily dual purpose truck.

I run Hankook Dynapro ATMs and like them just fine too. Mine are P rated, hated the ride of E load range KO2s. A nice C load range tire would be fine for your needs and you have way more tire sizing options, in that C load range, with a 17" wheel than I do with my 16" wheel.

Thanks for the info guys. So no issues from going from a 265/65 17 to a 265/70?

No. It’s done all the time. Some installers e.g., Costco, may not do it but they will fit.

common size to go up to without any need for modification.

That stated, if most of your driving is on the road (dry / wet / plowed snow / ice) You will not find a better, longer lasting, grippy, quiet and light tire than the Michelin Defender LTX MS.

I’ve read some great things about the defender xlt. But I was looking for something a little more aggressive looking.

    Get the defenders.

I dont get form over function. Why are looks so important?

This. Seriously, I ran with AT tires (Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10's, and Cooper AT3's) And while both of them looked "more agressive" neither of them came ANYWHERE CLOSE to the defender ltx ms as far as ride quality, grip in all conditions, weight, etc etc etc. My truck is SO much more of a pleasure to drive now with them vs ANY of the 80k miles i got between the 2 sets of coopers / hankook AT's.

I get what you guys are saying. But why does anyone do something Bc of looks then. That’s why I’m looking for a comparable tire that has a nice aggressive look. Call me a poser I guess. It’s ok lol.

Ha! Unfortunately you wont find a tire that performs as well as the defenders AND looks aggressive. Atleast I dont think so. That would like finding a unicorn!

No issues fitting 265/70-17 on my 2006. Michelin Defender LTX MS are a great all around tire and I had great results on both my F150 and Suburban. I'm running K02's on the Tacoma and like them as well.

Sams Club is doing a Black Friday sale on at least some tires. I ordered a set of these for my F150 and if I pay for them on Friday will get them OTD for just over $800. For an LT tire, mounted, with all taxes at that price is pretty good.

    https://www.samsclub.com/p/lt275-70r18e-at-50000/prod22100456?xid=plp_product_1_26

This is a new tire without a lot of feedback, but I'm going to try it.

If interested in the Falken tires look at this.

    https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=57TR7EAT&tab=Sizes

Falken tires are actually made by Sumitomo. Same tire with very minor tread differences, made in the same factory and they were priced lower than Falkens when I was shopping.

That's an interesting tread pattern on the Pirellis! Please post a review after you get some miles on them.

As far as as aggressive looking AT's for daily driving-

The wildpeaks are the "in" tire right now. Everyone who has them seems to love them (with few exceptions). They're supposed to be great in rain and snow, and fairly capable off-road.

I have "C" load rated KO2's and am very happy with them as a do-it-all tire. They're reasonably quiet, ride nice, good traction in almost any situation, etc.

That said, if I never left the pavement, I'd be rocking Michelin Defenders or some other good all seasons.

Defenders are the old LTX I ran on a Suburban and I am going to get my 3rd set of Michelin LTX A/T2s for the Tacoma with better off road tread. After about 50k on them they get slippery in rain - noticed on both sets so far but lots of thread left. Good ride P-metric (up to 44psi and I run at 35) and fairly quiet and great traction all conditions. Most dealers are out of them now as I believe a new run of them being produced and not sure if any change to them. These track much straighter and quicker steering than more aggressive tires..

I just put Falkens 265/7/17's on my 07 DC off road. I had to take the front mud flaps off due to rubbing. I got a decent deal on these in the late summer for $128 each, plus $60 off for using an Amazon card. Not enough time on them for a review yet, but everyone is talking them up.

Removed Predator Running boards. Removed front air dam. Installed Weathertech window visors and hood protector. Added vinyl color to engine cowl.
3 weeks ago I traded in my '09 Tacoma (stock) with 7 y/o BF Goodrich AT Ko2's on her. 265 /70 R16's still looked and performed well, no rub during turning. The truck had 198k miles on her, but I can't tell you how many were on the tires. These tires perform extremely well off road in mud, rocks + stumps and on road they aren't overly noisy and handle nicely on dry + wet + snow. Another nice aspect is their look. They have an aggressive look that made me crank the wheels a bit when parking to catch passing eyes. BFG TA Ko2's will be going on the 2017 Sport I just picked up.

Thanks for the input guys. I mostly drive pavement. But I drive a bit of stone roads to get to trails for quads. But I’m not off-roading or anything. Just driving haha.... I may look for some Black Friday sales on rims as well. Thinking of some 17” trd pros that are in the 4runners. Anyone know any deals on rims? Thanks!
