I thought it depended on what kind of food you were trying to cook on the engine block?

After reading all the suggestions to replace the stems I'll offer another option.

F**k those damn TPMS sensors. Buy a tire gauge and learn how to use it, as well as learning how to look at your tires to see IF THEY ARE FLAT.

Go old school and cover the stupid, expensive, and unreliable new tech indicator with a sticker... and ignore it.

If the OP says the temps are dropping I assume they're from the rust belt. When I bought my 2010 used, the aluminum wheels were in rough shape, (corrosion and pitted), and during the winter months, I was adding air to a couple of the tires every week or two. The tires were new, but the aluminum wheels were in rough shape, and after a couple of trips to a tire shop to address it and it failed I went looking for new wheels. I was able to find a set of steel wheels in excellent condition on craigslist for $100 and now I rarely have to add air and don't see the TPSM light come on. I suppose I could have gone looking for new aluminum wheels, but I haven't had good luck with aging aluminum wheels in the rust belt.

All valid…though TPMS does save the day as early warning when you’ve got a slow leak, at least it’s saved the day for me. Allowed me to catch it when the truck was driveable as opposed to walking out the next morning to a flat and now I’m gonna be late to work.

kinda hard to do that at 60 mph in the fast lane

For those that are confused about the purpose of the tpms system, it was never intended to take the place of a regular tire pressure gauge

First doing 60 mph in the fast lane is a poor choice.

We can say Thank You to Ford and Bridgestone tires for the reason behind the mandate of TPMS in vehicles. For those that don't know, just use your Google skills. Many accidents and deaths due to tires.

I had metal caps once. They corroded so bad to the valve stem I had to cut and pry them off. Inside was just the tiniest amount but man it was spinning the stem when trying to get them off. Quality plastic caps with a rubber seal at the end works good. It’s just 30-40psi over a quarter inch hole.

TPMS stems have the same microchips as the COVID vaccine. "They" will use it to track you with black helicopters
